Anne:
I heard someone at the door.

"Blythe," I heard, the voice shutting the door behind themselves. "Guess what ting I got!"

Silence.

"Blythe?" I heard feet shuffling around in the kitchen. "Oh-" They laughed. "You're stuck in bed, lucky blighter."

"It's Bash." Gilbert said, leaning further back onto the pillow.

"I know." I replied.

"Blythe? Why is there a dirty saucepan in the sink? You better clean dat up!"

Bash had moved from the kitchen and through the hallway, walking into Gilbert's room.

"Gilbert?" He stopped in his tracks when he saw me, and squinted his eyes, and started to have a quiet conversation in his head to himself.

"Hello Sebastian, how are you? And how is dear Delly?" I asked, standing up from Gilbert's bed.

"Delly's great- I'm fine, but um..." he pointed to me and then to Gilbert, as if processing something.

"Oh, when I popped round earlier- since Marilla made extra fresh bread, and she wanted to give some to you guys, Gilbert answered and- um,"

"I fainted again." He finished, nodding when bash laughed.

"Of course ya did Blythe. Can't keep yourself from doing something completely unnecessary that could hurt your little immune system even more- thought you wanted to be a doctor!"

"Oh, Bash, now that you're here, I should probably leave-" I started, only to be interrupted.

"No!" Gilbert exclaimed, and Bash let out a cackle, while Gilbert smacked his hand over his mouth. "I mean, do you have to go... so soon?"

"You were the one that said I should go." I protested, lifting my hands above my head. "Fine, I'll stay for twenty minutes. I need to wash up that soup pan anyway."

"Ah so it was you that ate Gilbert's special soup."

"I didn't eat it." I glanced at the bread eating Gilbert. "He did!"

I had put my hat, coat, and scarf back on and was walking out the door, when I turned around to face Bash.

"If he gets any worse," I told him. "Send word and I'll be right over."

"Will do... carrots." He returned, smirking.

I felt my face go red.

"He told you about that?!" I was referring to Gilbert, and the first day we met.

"He deserved a good whacking on da head." Bash replied, laughing. "Isn't that right Blythe?!" He called out to the back room of the house.

"What?" Gilbert croaked out.

"Nothing." I exclaimed, giving Bash a firm reminder, never, ever to repeat that moment.

Gilbert:
As soon as I had heard Anne leave, Bash came skipping into my room, jumping about, giggling like a child.

"What?" I asked, confused. Bash stopped jumping.

"So you're telling me, Anne- ANNE, came over, you fainted, and she cared for you?"

"No bash, I think you just imagined her being here. Of course she did, it's something Anne would do." I said sarcastically, taking a deep breath in after.

"Sure, or maybe she only did it cuz it's you!" Bash implied.

"No, Anne would help anyone. And besides, if someone fainted while they were at the door, they would've helped, no matter the person." I pushed, straining my arms out to sit up more.
