It was the next morning and the rest of them hadn't arrived yet. I was already awake, it was only five in the morning. Nino, Tay, and Mads were splayed out on the floor, all asleep. Last night we drank the entire bottles of liquor and we all ended up passing out after that. I was smoking a cigarette outside as I dialed Bert's phone number, my phone held to my ear as I heard the monotonous ringing. I rubbed my hand against my face, groaning at my intense headache. After a few moments, he picked up with a groggy voice.
"Hey, Bee. You awake?" I asked, blowing smoke out of my mouth.
"You woke me up, what do you need?" he asked, his voice laced with sleepiness.
"My bad, just wanted to ask when you guys are gonna come," I replied, finishing my cigarette and stomping it out on the ground.
I was in last night's clothes, my beat-up high-tops clung onto my feet. I wanted to go grocery shopping but I wanted someone else to come with me.
"We're all planning to come later tonight," he answered, his voice raspy.
"Dope, see you then. Sorry for waking you up," I said with a slight chuckle, telling him goodbye and then hanging up.
I held my head in my hands as my headache calmed down slightly, the cool breeze hitting me and making the hairs on my arms stand up. I sighed before heading inside to check if anyone was awake. As I peaked my head in, I noticed Tay was sat up and scrolling through something on her phone.
"Hey!" I whispered-yelled to her, not wanting to wake everyone else up.
She snapped her head towards me and gave me a small wave. I waved back with a smile.
"Wanna come to the store with me?" I asked her, shoving my hands into my jean pockets.
"For sure!" she immediately agreed, getting up from the ground.
I watched as she adjusted her hair a bit before making her way out the apartment. We both stood at the entrance in silence as I called for a taxi on my phone. Tay was patting her hands against her thighs as I spoke to the receiver.
"Okay, it should be here in a couple minutes," I confirmed to Tay, stuffing my phone in my back pocket.
"It's so cold," she commented, rubbing her arms up and down frantically.
"Seriously. We need to get blankets for all of us," I added, shivering slightly.
After a few minutes of us complaining about the cold, the taxi pulled up in front of our apartment. Tay and I climbed into it, greeting the driver. I directed him towards the nearest grocery store. After a short drive, I payed and thanked him. Tay and I got out of the car, walking through the entrance of the grocery store. Tay grabbed a shopping cart, climbing into the basket.
"Push me!" she laughed like a little child.
I rolled my eyes playfully, "Fine."
I began to push her through the different aisles, grabbing various items we would need for the next week or so. I grabbed frozen meals, bread, butter, milk, and two packs of 24 water bottles. From the home section, I grabbed blankets and pillows. I also grabbed a set of cutlery and plates.
"We also need hygiene stuff," Tay noted, pointing towards the hygiene aisle.
"Laundry detergent and dish soap, also," I added, making my way towards both aisles.
After we grabbed all the necessary aisles, we made our way towards the self checkout. Tay handed me each item while I scanned them, stuffing all of it into a two reusable bags we purchased beforehand.
