I walked in while the machine moved to slide him out. He sat up "So how many days do we have?"
I grabbed him pulling him into a hug. He was frozen but gave in hugging me back "That little huh." I have never seen a tumor-like this. He should have died a while ago... I feel bad of course. Makes all his actions come to light.
I sighed "I'll marry you, we need to get married today. We can't wait. The tumor won't wait. Loki, this explains all the erotic behavior. How long have you had this?!"
He sighed slinging his legs over the side of the table pulling me between his legs "Ten years. They said it was a lost cause. It wasn't until I heard you saved someone with the same tumor that I tried to pursue you. I tried to give you my card at the gala but James took it. I got so fed up that I went to see another surgeon. That surgeon told me I had months or a year. That's when I decided to kill and be ruthless. It is like someone else is making the choices. I want to marry you and sign the gang over. I want it to be my decision to give the gang. In my terms."
I nodded "I am so sorry you didn't find me sooner. Loki I could go in but I would not be able to get it all."
He sighed grabbing my face "It's ok. I know."
I sighed "Let's get going we need to get married."
He nodded. "So start making calls. It's just as much your day as mine."
"Loki, we both know it's more for you than me." I sighed "I'll make calls."
He smiled down at me as he stood up "I'll see you back at home sweetheart."He kissed the top of my head before leaving.
I sighed staring at his scans in my hands "So you are marrying him because he has a tumor you can't fix?"
I turned to meet the painful eyes of Levi He moved from the tucked-in side of the wall. How long was he hiding there? "He has days. It's a way for me to take his gang without the bloodshed. His men will be more inclined to follow me."
He laughed "Really, you taking the easy way out. Would have never guessed. You could have convinced him to operate then kill him. You chose this way over many others."
"I am not a Barnes. I do not kill for sport." I spit the words like venom. I regretted them as soon as they came out. His face was more than enough to let me know I had hurt him. I felt horrible. "Levi,"
He put his hand up walking out of the room shaking his head. He got to the door "You two deserve each other. Enjoy your wedding and gang."
I felt so fucking bad. I ran after him but ran into my three bodyguards. "Day is over, lets collect your things and head home."
I nodded fast and changed course to my office. I sighed "Let me go in alone, please. I need a moment." They all shared a look and nodded. And I walked in. I let out a sigh moving to my desk when I noticed someone in my peripheral vision.
"Hi, Amanda." I turned to James leaning on the file cabinets. I walked over to him stopping a couple of feet away.
"How have you been?"
He laughed "You convince me to take over a gang, only to go behind my back to marry the leader? How do you think I am?" Levi must have told him...
"James... I am doing this for the greater good. No more blood will be shed. Wes..."
"Weston would have wanted you to finish it not kneel to a tumor of all things."
I started to cry "Well Weston isn't here is he?! Maybe if I married Loki sooner he would still be here!" I was letting my emotions get the best of me. I am so on edge.
