Chapter 44: Missing In Action

The car ride was silent. I rode with James in the first SUV followed by Loki and then Levi with Steve. I kept going over the plan. Kill anyone who shoots at us. Simple right? So why am I not feeling so good? I feel like I am going to throw up in anticipation. I gripped the door handle and felt a hand lace into my free hand. I looked down at our hands and up to his face. He was gripping the steering wheel his watch just poking out of his black dress shirt. He had his eyes fixed on the road. I took in every inch of his face. The way his jawline could cut glass. The hot scruff coming in on his face. The way he was clenching and unclenching his jaw...

"Amanda, you are going to have to stop staring at me like that, or I am pulling the car over." I bit my bottom lip staring straight at the road. We don't need any distractions or diversions. He moved his fingers out of mine gripping my thigh "You ready princess?"

I looked down at his hand and up to his face "I am ready for this mission to be over so we can fuck. That's all I am thinking about now. So if you would be so kind as to remove your hand, sir."

He smirked gripping tighter "Oh princess, you are in for a long night."

We pulled up the drive breaking off down the dirt path to the right. We took it back to the far north of the gate. We got out and James popped the trunk to reveal a case. He opened it and started handing out earpieces to all the men and us. I put mine in slowly breathing in and out slowly. He was talking to another guy when Levi pulled me aside "Hey you ok? I haven't seen you this shaken up since James was on the O.R table."

I let out a breath whispering "Levi, last raid we were taking down a little gang stronghold. This...THIS is Sheild...Not some small operation."

He nodded "True but you underestimate the lengths I'm willing to go to keep you safe." He cleared his throat squinting at the sky "I mean we all want to keep you safe." I nodded cracking a little smile. He pulled me into a hug "It's going to be fine. Trust me. We have a lot of skilled men. It will be a breeze. We went over the plan ten times. I will be right by your side."

I nodded breaking the hug "Ok, let's do this." I walked over to the first group it was me and Levi with 22 other men. 11 from Loki and 11 from Hydra. The hydra men smiled at me nodding which made me feel a little better. One of the guys I remembered from the raid at Loki's.

He laughed "Nice to have you on the field today and not just in my ear. Shouldn't have locked away the hidden badass."

I smiled "Still like you."

Levi rolled his eyes. "Alright, let's get moving I'm hungry and I don't want to miss my show."

I giggled as we made our way to the house "So Levi you going to tell us this show that is so important?"

One of the other men chimed in "Bet it's gossip girl."

Another spoke "HEY! Don't you dare sleep on gossip girl? Serina could get it."

I bust out laughing covering my mouth "Can yall not! This is serious."

They all chuckled. I felt a breath on my neck and I turned punching Levi right in the stomach. He grabbed his stomach "MMMMMmmmmmm...."

"Oh my god... Levi, I am so..." he put up his finger to stop me.

He let out a breath "Seriously. Come on." He stood up stretching his shoulders back pulling his gun out "I told you I would be by your side. I wasn't kidding. I will literally be breathing down your neck, Amanda."

I smiled holding in my laugh as James spoke "You so much as breath on her again ill fucking shoot you, again."

Levi rolled his eyes "You want her safe right?" He didn't respond but Levi did making it worse "Don't worry princess is safe with me."
