Jaymies POV
"You gonna talk to me?" Mason asked me after the match. Yet another loss under Mr Lampard.
"If you're giving me the choice , no?" I sniggered and got myself a beer out the ice bucket we had after every game.
"Come on Jay, you're my best friend" he pleaded. All the other guys were discussing the reasons why we lost so no one was really listening to me and Mase.
"If I'm your best friend then why didn't you tell me about Ben and Amber?" I asked "because I for sure wouldn't do that to you" I added. This whole situation has been shit. Not only have I lost Ben but I have also lost the trust of Mason, my so called Best Friend.
"It was difficult"
"Yeah right" i took a deep breath. "Why don't you go sit with Ben, considering he is your bestie"
"I just want to know how you are?" Mason huffed.
"Well, the guy I have finally admitted that I fancy to everyone has been seeing another girl, then I got home that night and my electricity's been cut off because I can't afford it, my car has broken down and finally I come to work and the team and people i so desperately care about decided to loose" I ranted. "Does that answer your question"
"Yep" he popped the p, not knowing how to reply.
We both sat in silence. For the first time in the 3 years I've been friends with him.
"Ben has been worrying about you" he blurted out.
"Well, maybe he should of thought of that before he stuck his tinie tiny willy in someone else's vagina" I spat, I could feel that feeling of anger boiling in the pit of my stomach.
"Right" Mason said. He knew I was impossible, but in fairness he didn't give up.
"You can pass that message onto him by the way" I smiled.
Frank did one of his usual we can bounce back from this kinda speeches before we got in the coach back to Cobham. Everyone bundled up to the chill out room ti get some physio and try and take their minds off the loss.
I went into my office to clean down when there was a knock on my door.
"Come in!" I shouted. "Oh" my face went sour when Ben walked in.
"Gaffer wants you to work on my ankle" he said, not looking me in the eye.
"Take a seat" I bluntly said.
Usually when it is just Ben and I in the physio room time is either spent of him attempting to flirt with me or with him on his phone scrolling through different social medias.
This time neither of those things happened. It was deadly silent in the room. Both of us avoiding eye contact with each other.
"You know I still really like you" he said , causing the silence to break.
"Shame that isn't it?" I said back "because you know I did actually like you too"
"surely people deserve a second chance?" He said.
"So you think you're just going to say sorry and I'm going to immediately forgive you?" I laughed.
"Well..." he began
"Don't waste your breath" I said before he could continue. "You're done anyway" I added as I sanitised my hands afterwards.
Ben actually listened to what I said and didn't bother to continue begging for my forgiveness. He just put his sliders back on and left. As soon as the door shut I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
I sat on the end of the massage bed and a tear escaped my right eye. The first tear I have shed in years. They say in life that happiness will find you , but I think sadness finds you too. Sadness finds you when you think you are about to find happiness. I think that's why it sucks so much.
After having my little 5 minutes of feeling sorry for myself , I pulled myself together and grabbed all my bits to make my way home. Well it wasn't really home, my electricity has been cut off - in December.
"Do you want a lift home?" Mason asked me.
"I'm okay to walk" i faintly smiled. Mason has always insisted that I move in with him. He knows I can't afford my apartment , London is expensive. Way too expensive for someone who earns like £9 an hour.
"It's raining" he looked out the window.
"I'll be fine" I said "my water will probably be cut off soon anyway so it will give me a shower"
Bens POV
Christmas. The most wonderful time of the year right? Maybe when you were 7 years old and believed in Santa. But as a 24 year old footballer it was stressful. Playing 90 minutes every 3 days was tough on your body.
Jaymie has decorated Cobham with tinsel, fake snow and baubles - a blue and white theme obviously.
Christmas Day was spent at training. Just like I've spent every Christmas for the past 8 years, I guess it was quite nice that I wouldn't Ben completely alone at Christmas and to spend it with all your friends was nice.
The kitchen staff had cooked us all a Christmas dinner which everyone who works at the club sat and ate together.
"Oooop sorry" Jaymie said without looking up at me. We were both reaching for the gravy.
"You go" I smiled, she looked up and realised it was me. We haven't had one single conversation since that huge row a month ago now.
"Thanks" she half smiled.
"Do you want to have a chat?" I asked her.
"Only because it's Christmas and you're meant to me nice or whatever" she rolled her eyes and followed me to an empty table.
"Coming back from that second date , I wanted to make us exclusive" I huffed.
"Well that ain't gonna happen now is it" she burrowed her eyebrows. "So in order for you to make us exclusive you thought 'let me just shag this girl as well?'
"I wasn't thinking right , I know"
"You don't honestly think we're going to get in a fucking relationship now?"
"It's kills me to see you this angry and upset because of me , it's really not what I wanted"
"You've just put a massive step back in this whole thing though, you do realise that?" She said.
"If that's the way you feel then that's the way you feel but I won't be giving up" I said. "I've realised what I want and thats you"
