------Xìnyì POV------
Owen's sleepover party came quickly. Not only was I excited to see Owen again but I was excited to meet Callie and Jay his cousins. Would they act like the people at school? Or will they be nicer?
2nd of May - After school
Today was the day. It was Owen's birthday. I didn't want to give him his present yet because I wanted to surprise him at his actual party. I ran to the bus. Owen was in his usual seat. It was a habit to sit next to him now. I didn't care what Nia or Lilly did to me, in the end it was worth it. Like last time I got off the bus with Owen and made my way into the brick house. This time the house was decorated in rainbow streamers. Owen opened the door. His family were all over the place. The Grandma wrapping a few gifts, the grandpa trying to choose between two candles, the mother decorating the cake, the brother trying to steal some of Owen's presents, and the father was putting all the cards in a nice pile. Of course Owen didn't see any of his presents nor the cake because no one made it visible to him. I chuckled. What a cute family. I hauled in my suitcase for the sleepover. I didn't bring my teddy, I had already been teased enough I didn't want anyone to have another reason to tease me. A 17 year old with a teddy bear. I shake the thought from my head. Today was about Owen, and all I was thinking about was me. How could I be so self centred? "Let me take that" Owen says grabbing my suitcase and carefully bringing it up the stairs. I give him a grateful smile. I followed him up the stairs. Brian decided to zoom up past me and stick his tongue out at me. I shook my head. How is that guy Owen's brother?
I finally made it up the stairs. Owen was telling off Brian in Japanese for breaking a lamp that he had, or at least that's what I could make of it. Brian stomped off out of the room. Owen face palmed. I felt a smile tug at my lips. Chaotic but cute family. I start to help Owen pick up the glass pieces. It was only a small lamp so there weren't many pieces to clean. As me and Owen started to get up we hit each others head. "ugh" we both say at once. "Sorry is your head ok?" I ask with a hand laid on my forehead. "Yeah, you" I just nod. It hurt but I didn't want to make a scene.
Ding Dong The bell rang. I'm guessing it was Owen's cousins. Whilst Owen goes to open the door for them I quickly fix my hair and pull down at my dress. Sunlight from outside spilled into the house. From the sunlight emerged two figures. One was a short girl with glossy pink hair and bright orange orbs. She wore her hair in space buns with two thin strands resting on her shoulders. Next to her stood a taller figure... actually he was really tall... like taller than Owen and his family. He had choppy red hair and Golden eyes. His hair hung loosely over his forehead. "There's my birthday dude!" The man at the door practically yells. He had a rough deep voice. "Hey Jay" Owen replies doing some sort of hand shake-fist pump. The girl on the other hand immediately noticed me. "Who's that?!" she asks not breaking eye contact with me. "Oh Callie this is Xìnyì, Xìnyì this is Callie and her older brother Jay..... they are my cousins." Owen says finally taking a breath after that long introduction. "IS SHE STAYING TOO?!" Callie shouts excitement filling her glowing orange eyes. "Yep... she's staying." Owen says with a small chuckle. Jay did a little cough. "Callie aren't you forgetting something?" Jay says giving her that look my grandma gives me when I fold a dumpling wrong. "Oh yeah happy birthday Owen" she gave Owen a hug. Within the second she came bolting at me, grabbed my hand and ran upstairs practically dragging me up with her.
------Owen POV------
Callie ran upstairs with Xìnyì. "That's the last we'll see of them in a while." I chuckle. Jay wore a warm smile on his face. "This is for you bro" He says handing me a bag. "Oh Jay you didn't have to!" I say returning the warm smile. "Just shut up and open it." He says giving me a daring grin. I roll my eyes and start to pull out whatever was in the bag. I felt a hard square object. The corners of it were pointy and I felt a pattern carved into the border of the object. I finally pull it out. I let out a gasp. It was a picture with a beautiful Japanese themed frame around it. I felt the corner of my eyes burn a little with the threat of tears. I stopped it though... Why would I cry on my party? The picture showed me and Jay when we were younger. Jay was pushing me on a wooden swing with string holding it. "Do you remember that day?" Jay says with a smile. "Yep.... the lady who owned it chased us with her broom when the string finally broke." I say with my voice cracking a little. We both laughed together. "Thanks Jay" I say shaking my head a little. I placed the picture on a nearby table. "Let's go see what the girls are up to" Jay says leading the way upstairs.
