------Xìnyì POV------

"Ok.... annnnnddddd.... almost finished.... ok done!.... Take a look!" Callie was jumping up and down with excitement. I turned to look in the mirror. "Whoa..... I look like a different person" I place my hands on my face and gently slide them tracing my jawline, analysing my new look. "We have to show Owen!" She says grabbing my hand once again and rushing down the stairs. We were brought to a halt as Owen and Jay made their way up the stairs to see us. "Wow Xìnyì you look nice." Owen says with a smile. I blush a little. "What do you guys wanna do?" Jay asks. Everyone let out a 'hmmmmm' noise. "Well we could start getting ready in our sleepover clothes and tell spooky stories" Jay suggests. "It is getting a little late" I add on. "Or......" Callie says looking at me with a smile. I knew what that smile meant. "WE COULD GO SKATING! In the local skate park!" Callie excitedly yells. "I like that... then we can have showers and get ready after" Owen says smiling. Crap. I don't know how to skate!!

~Time skip~

We finally arrived at the skate park. I felt a tightness in my stomach... that same nervous feeling as before. Callie had brought along a helmet for me... I still felt scared though. Callie and Owen skated loops around Jay who was really struggling with roller skates. "Come on Xì!" Callie yells. She put her hand out gesturing for me to take it. I shakily took it. "Yo Owen you teach Jay... i teach Xì!" She yells to her cousin still teasing Jay. He put his thumbs up. Callie pulled me to a smaller area with less people. "Ok lesson one" "Stand up with your skates." I did as she said and stood up. "Ok now lesson 2.... don't take little steps push off and go as fast as you can!" I blink in confusion. "That doesn't sound ri-" Before I could continue she pushed me forward fast. I didn't know how to stop. There was a tall pole in front of me. The pole was getting closer and closer. "Calllliiiieeee!!" I scream in fear as the pole keeps getting closer. I was about an inch away from banging my nose on the pole when Callie grabbed me and spun me the other way... also stopping me in the process. I was panting out of fear and relief. "Why are you screaming?" She asks. I snapped out of my little moment of peace. "Just promise me one thing Callie" I say with a small chuckle. "Promise me you'll never become a teacher." I say gasping for some air. She started laughing and I couldn't help but join in. When we finally stopped laughing along came Owen and Jay. Jay was still failing miserably. This caused another laughing plague between the two of us. "Who taught you how to skate?" I ask sitting beside Callie. "I'm self taught" she replies. "That's amazing!" I yell. She gave a warm smile. "What made you want to learn?" Her smile turned to a small sigh. "Well my father taught my brother how to engineer cars.... he didn't want to teach me because he said i'd be home most my life so there was no point.... so whilst he taught my brother I thought to make my time resourceful and teach myself to skate." she says returning to her warm smile. "Oh" I say. I patted her on the shoulder. She must've had a hard life/time dealing with discrimination from her own father. "Enough about me tell me about you now! What culture are you?!" Callie asks in a high pitched voice wanting to learn more about me. "uh-uh - well i'm from China, I came as an exchange and I am fully Chinese." I say keeping it basic. "Ooooh cool, my great great great grandfather visited China" Callie mentions. "Ooh that's cool, what's your background?" I ask trying to ask the same amount of questions she was asking me. "Well my mum who is Owen's mum's sister is Japanese and my dad is Cambodian."  she replies resting her elbow on my shoulder. She was surprisingly very light. "and where in Cambodia is he from?" I ask keeping the conversation alive. "Ah Phnom Penh" she says nodding her head a little. I had no idea where that was but I went along. "Do you speak Cambodian and Japanese?" I ask with my eyes widened. "I'm fluent in Cambodian thanks to my grandma and I can speak broken Japanese." She replies. One last question crossed my mind. "Who taught you English?" I ask as more curiosity fills me. "Owen did." I nod my head. "Also I hope you like your nickname Xì.... because it's gonna stick with ya" Callie says whilst nudging me in the elbow. "It's ok... i like it." I shyly reply.

"Ok guys time to go!" Owen yells from afar. "Aaaaaw" Callie complains. "Listen to the birthday boy Callie" Jay yells with an evil smirk on his face. "Shut up Jay!" Callie snarls. Me Callie, Owen, and Jay made our way back to the car. Owen drove back to his house. He was surprisingly a good driver. Maybe a little too good. He always stopped just before the white line, he never crossed a red light, and he always went the exact speed limit, not to mention he gave way to like 5-6 people. We finally made it home. The skate park was only 8 minutes away yet it took us 15 to get back home from the safe driving. I liked his driving though... Callie on the other hand was bored out of her mind.

After we got inside and had showers we ate then got dressed into our packed clothes and told some scary stories.

We couldn't stay up too late though... it was still a school day tomorrow.
