Chapter 3

At school

As I'm walking in I bumped into Mom again as we go through the alarm.
As we are going through the alarm we see Artie.

"Good morning, Maddy, Emma." Artie said
"Hey Artie. Thanks." I said
"Lot of kids out sick today. Thought y'all were another victim." He said
"No we got our flu shots." Mom said for us
"Are y'all alright?" He asked us
"We found Nick." I said
"Oh, thank good lord. Y'all must be relieved. He all right"
"He's at the hospital." I said
"Travis stayed, so Stacy is gonna take his classes." Mom said

Suddenly the alarm goes off. We turn and I see Tobias walking in. Mom goes to him as is Artie and I see mom had the situation handled so I go to my class.

As I make it to class with Olivia in my arms, asleep, I sit down and start talking to the few students.
"Morning class, since it is only a few of you it's free time." I told them
After that I started reading the files.
With what I found out, I started forming a plan in my head for my family and I.

Time skip after school

"Hey mom, I'm going to get the kids and bring them by the hospital for a few minutes ok." I said
"OK, I'm heading over there right now." She said

In the car with Olivia who is up

"Mommy, are we getting Bubba." She asked
"Yes, we are and then you sisters." I told her

Picking up Cameron

"Hey mom. Hi Liv." Cam said
"Hey sweetie how was school?" I asked
"Hi, Cammy!" Liv said
"It was pretty boring. A lot of people were out sick today." He replied
"Oh, ok sweetie. Well after we pick up the twins, we are gonna go see Uncle Nick and then heading home." I told him
"Ok mom." He said

After picking the twins, we made it to the hospital

"Uncle Nick!" All the kids screamed together
"Hi kiddos. What you doing here?" He asked looking at me, as I lean in to hug him
"They wanted to see you, but we can't stay long. Luke and I we have something to talk about with them." I whisper in his ear

After leaving the hospital, I see Luke home already.
"Kids go your rooms and play ok. Me and daddy have to talk about something important so don't come down the stairs, ok." I told them
"Ok, mommy/mom." They said
They run up the stairs and I turn serious looking at Luke.

"Is this right?" I asked
"Yes. I went to work and looked at it again. Everything in there is true." He said
"Ok, ok. We have nothing to worry about. We know more than others. If we aim for the head, they die. Right?" I demanded to know
"Yes, babe. We have plans for stuff like this. I went to the storage unit and packed all our weapons, camping gear, medicine, and other necessities we might need." He told me
"Ok, I'm calm. Let's go over everything.
Guns, check. Knives, check. Swords, check. Ammo, check. Medicine, check. Camping gear, check. Money, check. Clothes, check. Ok, babe we have everything we need now let's tell the kids to pack stuff they can play with on the road." I told him and myself
"Okay but first I think we should tell them what's happening." He said
"Yeah, I agree. It would be better for them to know the truth instead of a lie." I told him

We decided to tell them one on one. Luke went in Cameron's while I went to the twins room.

In Cameron's room

Luke opens the door.
"Hey, bud, we need to talk." Luke said
"What's up, is something wrong?" He asked turning off the PlayStation
"You know how your mom and I work for the FBI and CIA right.""yes""okay, well today we got some important files that explained why everyone was getting sick. In those files is stated how people have been turning into monsters that are eating people." Luke told him
"Is it contangeous?" Cameron asked
"No, it's not airborne but if you ever see a monster like that, we need you to runaway if mom or I aren't there. Okay." I told him
"Okay, dad but if it's that bad why stay. Shouldn't we go?" He asked
"Yes, we are leaving. Your mom and I have everything pack but we need you to pack things you can play with out in the desert or car okay." He said
"Okay, dad. I will." He said back

With the Twins and Emma

I knock on the door and walk in to see the twins playing barbie.
"Hi, my babies. We need to have a big talk." I told them
"What is it mommy?" They asked
"Your dad and I found something very bad happening in the world, that we can't stop. There are monsters that are eating people, but you don't need to be afraid, your dad and I won't let anything happen to you all." I told them
"Mommy, that sounds scary. What if they get us." Veronica said
"They won't mommy and daddy won't let that happen. In order to be safe we are gonna go to the desert so I need you guys to pack things that will keep you occupied in the desert and car ok." I told them
"Okay, mommy." They said back to me

As I'm walking out I see Luke walking out of Camerons room. We both head towards Olivia's room together. We walk in Olivia's room and see her coloring.

"Hey, baby girl""Hey, munchkin" Luke and I said at the same time
"Hi, mommy, daddy." She said
"Me and daddy need to tell you something and it might be scary but your a smart girl like I was at this age, so I know you'll understand what I am saying." I told her
"Baby, there is a virus going around that is turning people into monsters that eat people. And there isn't a cure, yet." Luke told her
"Your dad and I are planning on going to the desert and stay there. We have a house that we can stay in out there." I told her
"Mommy, daddy. You don't have to worry I'm little but smart. I understand what your saying. I'll start packing clothes and stuff." She said
"Oh, my beautiful, intelligent, baby you don't need to worry about clothes your dad and I have everything packed. We just need you to get stuff that will keep you occupied on the road." I said
"Okay, mommy, daddy." She said

We then leave her room and head to ours to collect any last things like pictures and stuff like that for the road.

Finally it's around 12 when we start heading to bed.
"Night, babe. Sweet dreams." I told Luke
"Night, hon." He said
As I am about to turn off the lights we see the kids walk in with there stuff animals.
"Mommy, Daddy we were wondering if we could sleep in here tonight with you?" Cameron asked
"Of course babies" I said
They started crawling in between us starting with me on the left, Cameron next to me, then Veronica next, with Vanessa in the middle, Olivia by Luke and Luke at the other end.
After knosing they fell a sleep I turn off the light and combine my hand with Lukes in the middle enwrapping our kids in a hug.
