This one's a little shorter but it's okay! Here it is

The search for something for Alberto was a difficult task.

He didn't like books- he could hardly read or write.

He wasn't a jewelry person as far as he knew. Luca sighed for what seemed like the fifth time that day.

"Oh lighten up Ragazzo", Guilia nudged him and spoke cheerfully, "We'll find him something soon".

She winked and went ahead of him like a woman on a mission, heading to an old vespa shop he and Alberto visited when they were kids. There were vespas of all colors.  He went to tap Guilia, to show her, to give out his idea.

Until he spotted Giulia talking to a man.

Dressed in overalls and covered in grease from a car, he grinned at the redhead before him. He himself was a redhead with striking blue eyes, towering Guilia by a lot. He spoke while gesturing with his hands, smiling. He then disappeared and took out a Vespa.

A..Vespa...

A green-blue like his scales, shining as if it was brand new.

Of course, it was brand new.

There was a bow on it like it was a gift, and it finally clicked.

It was for Alberto.

He approached the two and touched the Vespa. He'd love it. It was polished and shiny; so shiny in fact he could see his own reflection. The seat was made of leather he noted, running his fingers against it gently.

It was perfect.

Just like him.

"Fancy ain't it?" The mechanic guffawed, "I whipped up this baby at the lil' lady's request" He shot Guilia a wink.

"I managed to get Eduardo to give us his prize Vespa for cheap. With a few negotiations, he gave it to me for the same price as the Portorrso race." The redhead said proudly.

Luca grinned, not able to find the words.

"Well," Eduardo said with a grunt, "I'll leave y'all youngins to it. I've got other things to do."
With that, he walked back into the shop, closing the door behind him and went on to continue fixing another Vespa.

Giulia then rolled the Vespa out into the street, nudging Luca, "glad that's over"

"What type of negotiations did you work with him?" Luca couldn't help but ask.

"You don't want to know. But since we're leaving, I thought you'd like to give Alberto something before we go."

"Thank you", Luca grinned, "But we should let Massimo know so we can hide it."

"Way ahead of you", she returned the grin.
There was a silence for a second, before Guilia spoke again, "Hey Luca" She continued when she heard his quiet 'Hm?', "Be honest, okay? Are you in love with Alberto?"

The question caught him by surprise, yet he found a lovesick sigh escaping him, "I do. A lot." He paused and looked at Guilia, who egged him on, "He's such an amazing person. The way he's so protective yet so kind, his eyes remind me of the sea and dio, that smile..."

Guilia grinned, "I'm glad. This Vespa is your gift to him. Don't worry about paying me and Papa back."

"But- what about you?" Luca seemed worried, he knew vespas were expensive, but one of these, it had to be pricey. Even with what the Portorosso cup money.

"My gift is on paper" She smiled proudly and before Luca could ask anything else, marched on ahead.

Gelato.

The best part of summer.

The memories the two boys had of the previous visit were drilled into their heads.

It didn't help that they had one more day together. One more day until Luca leaves for months. Hopefully it wasn't a year, Alberto's mind reminded him. And yet, his mind likes playing tricks on him.

It soured Alberto's mood, thinking about it now. Luca was leaving soon. His Luca. He'd leave him by himself again. He swallowed the lump in his throat and ate his gelato instead, listening to the girls' conversations.

"So, after college, what are you gonna do Guils?" Clementine smiled at the girl in question.

"Come back of course. My whole life is here. No way am I letting go of it." Guilia reached for her hand, which she accepted with a smile.

Alberto's eyes then landed on Luca.

He barely touched his cold treat, looking down. He let out a sad sigh, only looking up with Alberto nudging him gently with the outer side of his foot, earning a smile from Luca. He returned it, but raised an eyebrow, getting a head shake. Then he perked up, intertwining their fingers, and got up, "'Berto and I are going to the beach".

Guilia looked at the two and tilted her head, "Want us to come too?"

Luca shook his head with a smile, "I need to talk to him privately."

With a nod and smirk for the girls, they went off.

The beach was calm and silent, glistening under the now setting sun. The two boys, fingers still laced, walking together along the soft sand the green used to.

After finding a good top beside the rocks, they sat in silence, comfortable in each other's presence.

Until Alberto spoke, "What are you going to do after school Lu?"

Luca turned back to Alberto with a soft smile, repeated Giulia's words, "Cone back of course. This is where I live. This is where everything I love is" he paused for a moment, "Especially you, Alberto."

When the waves finally crashed their lips touched, Alberto roughly holding Luca against him, wasting no time. Their fingers intertwined again under the sand, making Luca quiver slightly. Luca was the first to pull back which a small pant. "Alberto-"

"Promise me you'll come back" He grabbed Luca's shoulders, gently, and shook him. "please Luca"

"I promise" is all he Said. "I promise."

Their lips reconnected, remaining there the rest of the night.
