I sat on Vinnie's lap comfortably, swaying back and forth in the hammock, soaking in our final moments in paradise.
We weren't officially together at the moment; any outside perspective could've told you that. the on and off confuses me too.
But an outsider couldn't see the way your eyes lingered on mine, and how they softened when I held your gaze.
An outsider couldn't see the way your brown eyes brightened when I held your hand, and how they dropped when I'd let go.
Maybe I was mistaken for thinking your kindness was affection, or that your overly protective nature was jealousy
But I don't think your eyes lied to me, even though your mouth did
"It'll be better if we're just friends, mason"
But what I didn't tell him was how sick I'd been feeling recently, or how moody I'd become, and most importantly, how I hadn't gotten my period in two months.
