I held my breath and touched it. Lights turned on and I was in my room. Well, I was at the adoption centre. I smile and walk out of the room hoping I’ll find somebody. I see some boy in the hall and touch his shoulder – hi.
He turns around and smile to me – hello
He had black hair and beautiful dark eyes, I liked him.
- Uhm, what time is it? I slept. – I ask
- It’s 3 a.m. – he says as he checks his clock
- Thank you
I walk to my room, but then I hear that boy.
- Hey, I see you’re new. Wanna go on sightseeing tour with Johnnie? - he smiles
- Uh… okay, it should be fun.
Okay, his name was Johnnie, that’s cute. We were walking on empty hall. Walls were painted in white, there were lots of rooms and some candy machine.
- Want some? – he takes out his money
I nod my head and smile.
- Which one? – he asks
I look at it and decide I’ll just take coffee.
- Coffee.
He gives me a cup and opens gummy bears he took for himself.
- I didn’t catch your name. – he says while we were on empty, sad hall
- Oh, I forgot. My name is Ellie
He nods his head and smile.
- I’m 16. – he says
- Me too
I drank some coffee, wow, it was really good. I realize I forgot about guys…
We sit on some bench and we’re both quiet for some time.
- You ever had a meeting with people who wanted to adopt you? – I ask
- Uhm, yeah. Nothing much, boring woman and superboring man. Not gonna happen.
We both laugh. We heard some noises in the hall and I looked at Johnnie.
- Quick, follow me. – he grabs my hand
I get up and run after him. We ran outside and hid behind a wall.
- Why? – I whisper
- Maria, the principal of this shitty place, she walks to see if somebody is awake and she yells at everyone if they’re not in their beds
After some time, we realized she left and we came in.
- Okay, thanks for all this but I gotta go in my room. – I say
- Uhm, I’m in room 145 if you need me
I nod my head and leave.
Next day came pretty fast. Maria woke me up.
- Hey kiddo, get up. – she smiled and shook my hand
- I’m awake.
- Here’s some clothes, get dressed you have a meeting in 15 minutes. – she gave me some clothes
