Later in the night, Kat is back in the locker room packing up her bags when Adam walks over to her with a question. His phone buzzes in his hand every few seconds like someone is trying to get ahold of him.
"Kat, hey." Adam catches her attention. "So, what time do you wanna sit down to record tonight? Oh, and what game are we playing?" He asks her.
"How does 10 sound?" Kat zips up her bag and turns her attention on Adam. "As for what we're playing. Well, I haven't decided on that yet." She shrugs casually.
"Yeah 10 works for me." Adam nods. "Gives me just enough to get home and shower."
"Alright." Kat nods as well. "I'll talk to you at 10 then. I'll send you a link to my discord when I get home." She pats Adam's shoulder casually.
"Can't wait! Get home safe, Kat." Adam opens the locker room door up for her and watches Kat walk off.
Adam's phone buzzes again and a sigh escapes his lips. He pulls his phone out of his pocket only to see Britt's name flash across the screen.
"Babe, what is so urgent?" Adam answers with an annoyed tone.
"What? Too busy to pick up the phone now?" Britt replies accusingly on the other end of the line.
"Sorry." Adam apologizes. "I was trying to hurry and get packed up so I can get home on time." He explains.
"On time for what, exactly?" Britt questions him.
"I told Kat that I'd record some stuff for the AEW twitch and Youtube channel, remember?" Adam replies. "She and I are going to record at ten."
"Oh, so you'd rather spend the night playing some dumb video games than going out to dinner with me?" Britt whines.
"Come on babe, you know it's not like that," Adam replies in a sigh. "I promise that tomorrow I'm all yours after the gym, okay?" He pleads.
"Fine. Go play your dumb video games." Britt scoffs again and Adam is sure that she's rolling her eyes at him. "I get it. You'd rather hang out with your ex." She adds.
"Britt, come on." Adam protests. "You know that I love you." He insists. "Kat's just a friend. Like Matt and Nick are."
"Whatever, I'll talk to you tomorrow." Britt gives up and hangs up the call.
Adam sighs again and puts his phone back in his pocket. It's been like this for a few weeks now. Britt absolutely loathes the fact that Adam and Kat used to date. And she's been on Adam about spending time with Kat ever since he told her about signing to AEW a few weeks ago.
10 O'clock rolls around and Sam is busy scrolling through her library of games when a new discord notification pops up on her second monitor. She'd texted Adam with the information as soon as she got home. The request is for an audio call with Adam, so Kat accepts and pulls down her microphone.
"Adam?" Kat speaks softly into her mic and waits.
"Kat? Hey, let me turn you down a bit...there." Adam sounds off a few seconds later.
"Alright, you ready to get your ass kicked Cole?" Kat falls into her usual carefree and competitive nature.
"Like I said, we'll see about that," Adam replies with a laugh. "You decide what we're playing yet?" He asks her.
"How about a few rounds of Mortal Kombat?" Kat suggests, seeing as some new DLC just came out for the game.
"Yeah, that's fine with me." Adam agrees with her proposal and the pair load up the game.
Adam and Kat play a few rounds of Mortal Kombat as well as a few more video games after that. Kat captures a good chunk of video that she can post to the channel later in the week and by the time they are done it's around 2 am.
By now the games have stopped and Adam is simply keeping Kat company in the call while she does some editing and other otherwise boring stuff.
"So, you've been in AEW for a week now." Kat comments. "How do you like it so far?" She asks Adam.
"I'm having fun," Adam replies cheerfully. "Things are run a bit different. But I love that I get to hang out with you and your brothers again." He adds. "I missed the whole Elite thing."
"Good." Kat nods as she clicks through programs. "It must be easier for you and Britt too, right? Now that you work the same schedule basically?"
"Yeah, definitely..." Adam's voice trails off a bit which Kat takes notice of. "What about you Kat? You're not dating anyone at the moment?" He asks her.
"No, I haven't been in the game for a while." Kat chuckles. "Jay was my last serious relationship. But it wasn't really going anywhere." She shrugs, her hand stopping moving her computer mouse for a second.
"Yeah, you know I heard that you and Jay bunked up for a while. I'm surprised that didn't work out for you two." Adam comments casually.
"Yeah well, you know how Jay is." Kat chuckles again. "We still talk and hang out when he's in the states. So it's not like we don't see one another anymore."
"That's good." Adam agrees. "Man, it's been forever since I've talked to any of our old buddies in Japan." He smiles to himself as he recalls some fond memories. "Hell, I haven't even gotten a chance to talk to Page." He adds.
"Oh god." Kat cracks up at the thought. "That's probably a good thing, Adam. You two were always getting up to no good."
"Hey! You helped with most of the shenanigans that we got up to." Adam reminds Kat with a laugh.
"Guilty." Kat giggles. "Those were the day's man." She sighs gently. "Just a bunch of rowdy kids up to no good." She smiles to herself.
"Yeah, those were the golden years." Adam agrees, his voice growing quieter.
Kat goes to recall another fond memory of the so-called 'good old days' when Adam suddenly grows awfully silent.
"Adam?" Kat furrows her brows at the sudden silence.
"Sorry, Kat. I gotta go." Adam replies quietly. "It was super fun hanging out though. And I'll see you on Wednesday." He goes to dismiss himself.
"Yeah, I had fun too." Kat agrees, still confused. "I'll see you on Wednesday."
Kat sits in silence and is about to end the call when one last sound comes from Adam's mic. It's faint, but Kat recognizes Britt's nasally voice faintly in the background. Kat rolls her eyes and promptly ends the call. She's quick to deduct that Britt's sudden bitching about Adam being up late is what made him end the session so abruptly.
"Whatever," Kat shrugs and goes back to editing on her computer since she doesn't have any weekend plans.
She can always ask Adam to play with her again sometime. Maybe even get a co-stream going since they've both got Twitch channels.
