Later into the day Kat enters her gaming room and starts switching on lights. Rosco trots in after her and sits down on the large dog bed in the corner of the room.

"Oh, you decided to join me today?" Kat chuckles at the dog as she sits down in her chair.

Kat sits and switches on her PC and the rest of her equipment. She settles into her chair and loads up Discord as soon as it's ready to go. She finds an invite waiting for her from Adam.

"Adam, hey!" Kat slips on her headphones gently. "You ready to play some games?" She asks him with a small grin.

"Hell yeah!" Adam chuckles. "What are we playing tonight?" He asks Kat casually.

"Well, my buddies won't be on for another hour or so," Kat replies as she clicks through a few more of her messages. "Have you ever played Stardew Valley?" She asks.

"Umm, no." Adam shakes his head. "It's that cute little farming simulator game, right?" He asks Kat.

"Mhm. It has a co-op option if you want to play with me." Kat suggests. "I just started over on a new farm if you wanna join up with me."

"Yeah, let me download it real fast." Adam agrees. "So, what character did you romance the first time you played?" He asks Kat curiously.

"Shane." Kat laughs. "The minute I loaded his rude dialogue to my character I knew he was the one I was gonna put my time into." She laughs at herself.

"I knew it!" Adam laughs with her. "It was either going to be Shane are Alex."

"Alex was my second choice," Kat replies as she loads up her game. "You know he kind of reminds me of you."

"Really?" Adam sounds a bit intrigued by Kat's statement.

"Yeah, I mean he's a jock that's full of himself. But still a good guy at heart. Just wants to live his life to the fullest." Kat explains.

"Right." Adam chuckles. "Okay, it's downloaded, I'm loading up right now." He explains.

Kat switches back to the main screen and changes over to her co-op setting. She and Adam both load into a game and Kat explains a little bit about the game.

"So I'll work on clearing out some land, you head into town and buy some different crops at the shop," Kat explains as she begins playing.

"Alright." Adam does as told in-game.

Kat and Adam play peacefully together for around an hour or so. They are in the middle of an in-game day when Kat gets a message from one of her other buddies.

"Oh, Adam, hey. My buddies are ready to play if you want to switch over." She explains to Adam.

"Yeah, alright. What are we going to play?" Adam replies, stopping for a moment.

"Umm, hold on, let me invite you to the group call." Kat pauses for a second. "Okay, guys this is my buddy, Adam." She introduces everyone. "Adam, this is Kip, Penelope, and John."

"Nice to meet everyone." Adam greets everyone politely.

"Yeah, same here man," Kip replies.

"Nice to meet you, Adam." Penelope chimes in.

"Mhm, nice to meet you," John adds.

Once everyone has been acquainted and settled into the call. Kat finally asks the question everyone is wondering. What are they playing?

"Alright, what are we playing tonight?" Kat asks everyone.

"Umm, Valorant?" Kip suggests, it being a favorite game of his.

"Sure, I'm down." Kat agrees. "Everyone?"

Everyone else in the group agrees to the game and loads up on their respective gaming systems. It takes a few minutes, but eventually they all load into a game, and chaos ensues.

Kat and Adam prove to be quite the pair as they navigate the game. Kip, Penelope, and John all fall into a good routine and everyone manages to make a phenomenal team.

"Damn! We almost had it!" Kat leans back in her seat a few hours later.

"Ugh, I know." Adam sighs as the stat screen loads up at the end of the game. "Good game though, guys." He adds.

"Yeah, great game everyone." Kip agrees. "Penelope and I are gonna bounce though. Early morning." He explains.

"Alright." Kat nods. "See you guys at work then, night." She smiles and shifts in her seat.

"Yeah," Kip replies and both him and Penelope leave the call.

John leaves a few minutes later, leaving Kat and Adam alone once again. Silence fills the call for a moment while Kat searches for something to say.

"Well, I had fun." Kat finally speaks up after a moment.

"Yeah, it was fun." Adam agrees with a chuckle. "Hey, Britt and I are throwing a party for my birthday next weekend, you want to come?" He suddenly asks Kat.

"A party? Where at?" Kat replies.

"My place." Adam answers. "I invited Matt and Nick as well just so you know." He adds.

"Yeah, I'd love to come." Kat agrees to the invitation. "I'll make sure to clear my calendar." She jokes.

"I appreciate it." Adam chuckles with her. "So, are you done for the night? Or are you up from some more farming?" He asks Kat.

"Sure." Kat giggles and shifts in her seat again back into a comfortable position.

The pair load back up Stardew Valley and play for a couple more hours. Kat is busy on clearing some more land in-game when she briefly hears a door slam from Adam's audio in the call.

"Adam?" Kat furrows her brows and stops playing for a second.

"Just a second, Kat. Be right back." Adam is quick to reply, but Kat can tell that he sounds frustrated.

Adam goes on mute for a moment and Kat rolls her eyes. Britt is bothering him again no doubt. 'God, she can't just let us hang out and play?' She thinks to herself and she waits for Adam to come back.

A few minutes later Adam unmutes himself and comes back into the call.

"Is everything alright, Adam?" Kat asks as casually as she can.

"Yeah, everything's fine," Adam replies dryly. But Kat can tell something is wrong.

"Are you sure?" Kat presses a bit. "No offense, but you sound kind of pissed off."

"Sorry." Adam sighs, and Kat can hear him shifting in his seat. "I just had a little argument is all. Nothing to worry about."

"Okay." Kat lets it go. "Hey, I'm going to the gym tomorrow morning at 7." She suddenly gets an idea. "You wanna come with me?"

"Gym?" Adam replies, thinking for a second. "Yeah, that sounds nice." He agrees with the idea.

"Great." Kat nods. "I'm gonna get off for the night. But I'll see you in the morning." She insists.

"Yeah, okay." Adam nods. "I'll see you tomorrow, Kat. Sleep well." He adds before he leaves the call.

"Yeah..." Kat trails off a bit before she shuts all her stuff off.

She's meddling in something she shouldn't. She knows that. But Kat can't seem to help herself. She KNOWS Adam is struggling. And she shouldn't care. Not after what he did the last time they were together. But she does. And she hates it.
