Chapter 12: Marshmallows and Rain

After a comforting talk and clearing any misunderstandings with Lucas I felt much better. Everyone gathered in a circle around the campfire and put marshmallows onto sticks.

A few droplets or rain began to fall scattering on the floor and on to my face

Teacher: "it seems like we are going to get rain, if it gets too much we can all go back to our tents and you can have a laugh with your friends. It's 6pm now and we will be leaving at 8 so everyone gets home by 9pm, I hope everyone had a nice time to relax and enjoy"

I looked at the time on my phone shocked at how it flew by so fast.
This was late, I wonder what my parents were thinking.
Atleast I enjoyed my time I guess.

The teachers phone suddenly rang and he walked away to get it.
Five minutes later he came back with a questionable frown on his face.
"Haniya can I have a word"

I looked at Saf confused and she shrugged.

"Sure sir" I walked over to the side wondering what it could be about.
The sky suddenly grew darker as if it was hinting something unfortunate

"Haniya your parents called. I've just let them know that we'll be back for 9pm. I know there wasn't a confirmed time before but everything is sorted.
They seemed a little upset"

"You mean angry?"

"Well a bit and offered to come pick you up"

"What?"

"Yes but I explained how it is absolutely safe and if they were concerned about the tents. Boys and girls are separate"

"Oh okay thank you, I'm sorry if they bothered you"

"No problem you can go back now and don't worry"

I walked back to where Saf was sitting

"What happened?" she asked curiously after seeing the worry in my eyes

"Looks like I'm going to be in trouble once I get home"

"What for?"

"The trip ending so late" I sighed

"That's not your fault, none of us knew, not even the teachers. It just depended on the coach timings"

"Mhm"

I checked my phone and saw 3 missed calls from dad. Uh oh...

"Hey it'll be okay don't worry about it"
