Claudia's POV

7 months had passed since I have awakened. Diana and I had become best friends. She came to me the next morning when she woke up and thanked me for helping her. I told her that it's fine and that I wouldn't have wanted my future niece to be in danger.

After that, she looked at me intently and had a small and sad, yet understanding smile on her face. 'I now understand why...' was what she muttered to herself after breaking her stare at me, which I admit confused me at what she meant by that.

Since then, I would visit her in the Ruby palace and asked her how she's been, if the baby is alright. We became fast friends after that, though Claude was obviously against it judging by the way his face would turn cold and hard whenever I mentioned that I would visit Diana. At first I thought he doesn't want me becoming closer to Diana because he's jealous of me, but then whenever the three of us were together, he would glare at the pregnant woman instead of me.

'My little brother is such a tsundere'

Also, every time I visit the Ruby palace, the concubines that belonged to the previous emperor and has been passed on to Claude would surround me like sharks circling a bloody prey. Which means to say that they were annoying as hell. Now I see why my twin killed them in the manhwa...

And just like that, 7 months had passed. During those times, everyday, Claude would always stay beside me. He would always follow me around, making sure I was always in his line of sight. It was cute and sweet of him at first, but then as the days continued, it became a little overbearing.

He's been treating me like glass, as if I could disappear at any moment if he leaves my side for just a second. Which I won't!

Today was one of the days where I am free from his constant watch, thanks to a generous amount of paperwork that has been piling in his office since I awakened. The look on his face when Felix had mentioned about if was both hilarious and scary. He looked ready to murder someone while at the same time make a run for it.

Ahh... Paperwork really is a b*tch. But, thanks to said item, I am free!!

So now, I am on my way to once again visit my best friend! Yay...

My thoughts trailed off as I saw a commotion in the distance. Right where the entrance to the Ruby palace is.

'Now that I think about it, Diana is due around this time...!'

After coming to that realization, I hastened my pace practically ran to her chambers. My pace was interrupted a couple of times because of the other concubines getting in my way, but I paid them no heed.

I know that Diana is meant to die. I know that. But if I was able to alleviate her pain when I just woke up, then maybe I can save her now that I have fully recovered. I just need to get to her in time.

If I can't save her...

If I can't save her then at least I want to be able to say goodbye.

Finally seeing her room's door, I quickly put my arms out and pushed it open. But what laid before me when I entered made me stop cold in my tracks.

Diana.

The girl I had come to like.

The mother of my niece.

My Best Friend.

Is dead...

I was too late. I couldn't reach her in time.

I couldn't save her.

If only...

"Your highness!"

The voice of a concubine who I did not bother to remember the name of penetrated though the haze that was forming inside my brain.

'Yes...'

"Oh my! Did she finally die?" Another one of them remarked after they saw the scene in front of me.

'If it wasn't for them...'

"Took her long enough." One whispered to the other. But that whisper was heard clear as day by me.

'I could have gotten here sooner...'

"Is that the child? She looks ugly."

'I could have saved her...'

"Too bad that thing survived"

I saw red.

3rd Person's POV

Claude was working inside his office and sifting through his unending paperwork when he felt it.

Magic.

Pure, unadulterated magic that suddenly appeared inside the castle.

Strong and resilient. Heavy and suffocating. Malicious and dark.

But what alarmed the emperor the most was not because of it's power, although that was also concerning in its own right. No, what alarmed him the most was because of its familiarity.

That magic was Claudia's...

Without wasting anymore time, the emperor immediately rose from his seat and teleported inside the Ruby palace where he felt his twin's magic coming from.

But what he saw made him freeze in his track and his eyes to widen in shock.

He saw...
