After they had arrived, Ian and Emily went to the dining hall, breaking their fasts as Ian was reading The Island to know about the current issues that were being discussed during the last Higher Court meeting. But it would seem that the riots that were happening in those villages were not being solved. Somehow, they actually got worse as Ian was reading about the miners in Stonelockteco was striking against the viscount. Ian shook his head. "I hope Dan is okay from his visit there," he mumbled as Ian was sipping on his blood-laced wine before he was eating some toast and eggs. Emily dabbed her mouth with a napkin before she addressed him.
"What do you mean, my love? Is the viscount is in any danger? I sure hope he would be okay. But to clarify, is he like you? Enhanced and everything?" Emily asked as Ian turned to look at his wife. He smiled before closing the papers and focused on his meal. He scooped some eggs and ate them. He nodded.
"Yes, thankfully. If not, I'm sure he would be able to pacify the riot in Saintsing. He's just... that charming, for the lack of a better word," Ian said, wanting to see if Emily noticed anything about Dan that would surely piss him off if she would comment that she agreed with him.
But thankfully, she did not. Surely, Emily thought better of him than Dan. Ian smiled as he was sipping on his tea.
Emily sighed. "I do think that the people should be getting more than what they had from last season. Don't you have discussed these discrepancies in our country with the other lords? How about Niklaus, Becca's husband? Has he had any solution to offer for those lords that had troubles in their regions?" his wife asked as Ian nodded.
"We've all pitched in for the solution. And I think Tom had been giving some great ideas on how to make sure that everyone is happy with the outcome, gentry or not. Otherwise, our economic growth will surely have some problems later," Ian said as he was looking at his pocket watch. It was past 8 PM for he needed at the court meeting to investigate this situation further. He stood up as his wife was looking at him. "I just got a missive after we arrived that I am needed at the Stone Tower," he said before Emily dabbed her mouth, stood up, and went to stand by his side.
"Are you sure that's wise? We just traveled from Lake Ngis and you haven't been sleeping in a proper bed for some time now and I know that I am being hysterical with all these but should you be going, Ian?" Emily asked as she was gripping his hands. "I'm afraid that you will get sick later," she said her concern that made Ian's heart melt at her care for him. How can I be so stupid to trust a siren's words when my wife's action is more than enough to show her love for me? Ian mused before he gripped her face, pulling Emily closer as he leaned their foreheads together. He sighed as Ian was shaking his head.
"I'm sure you don't know about this but a Vampyre cannot get sick, my love. So, rest assured that I am completely okay and will be so for even I have been sleeping on the ground for a couple of days," he said before Ian smirked, pulling Emily by the waist as their bodies flushed together. Emily sucked on her breath as she felt his eagerness against her stomach. Ian chuckled. "Especially when I was not sleeping next to you on the ground, doing some wicked things together," he said before Emily pushed him by the chest before stepping back.
"I guess you are correct then, my lord. It would seem that you are perfectly okay to me," his wife said before dismissing him with a wave of her hand as Emily walked out of the dining hall. Ian arched his eyebrow as he smirked.
"Aren't you going to give me a kiss before I leave, my lady?" he asked as his wife turned, smirking wickedly at him.
"I'm sure you can wait for it tonight, my lord. Besides, you did make me wait for yours," Emily said before she disappeared from the dining hall, doing what she was ought to do when they were back in the townhouse. Ian chuckled softly before he took his tall hat and gloves from the butler that was waiting for him. Then, he was off to Stone Tower.
