Nuisance. A noun meaning a person, thing, or circumstance causing inconvenience or annoyance.
_________________________Everyone knows someone in their life who's a nuisance. I, for one, am acquainted with plenty. Take, for instance, almost every person in my class. However, Billy Andrews stands out as a special case. I rolled my eyes from my desk as I attempted to complete the work I had left unfinished from the week before. Although, it was quite challenging to focus with this dummy running around like a psycho. His antics were enough to test the patience of a saint.
"Anne!" I hear Diana yell, making me turn to the back of the class.
"Hello, Diana!" Anne says cheerfully. She seems happier today.
"My, what have you done to your hat?" Diana asks. I look up and see that Anne has placed some beautiful wildflowers onto the top of her hat.
"Well, I wanted to make a good first impression, and it was so plain." Anne shrugs.
I stand and walk over to the girls. "You're making an impression, all right." I smile.
"Hello, Ada. It's so great to see you again. I do apologize for leaving you stranded yesterday." She apologizes.
"Oh, it's okay. I would've done the same if I were in your shoes." I swat my hand. "And I do apologize for the awful remarks made toward you yesterday. The townspeople are quite disdainful."
"It's fine. People will be people." She shrugs.
"I'm glad you found your way, Anne. I expect we should be able to walk together soon." Diana says.
Anne furrows her brows. "We can't?"
"I'm sure it won't be long until my parents accept you, now that you're a Cuthbert and all. Come on, I'll show you everything you need to know." Diana leads her to the back of the class.
"Leave your hat and sweater here. You can sit with me. Ruby won't mind." She assures her.
"I think Jane and Ruby may sit together now that Prissy's studying for her Queen's Academy entrance exams and needs to sit with the older students." I shrug.
"Who?" Anne asks as a confused look dances upon her pale face.
"No one important." I smirk. "Let's go on and set your things down." I lead her over to her desk.
"Hello there. I'm Moody Spurgeon." The boy greets Anne.
"I'm Anne." She smiles.
"I'm Charlie." Charlie smiles.
"Charlie Sloane." Diana talks over them.
"Happy to meet you." Anne nods.
"Don't talk to the boys. They're ridiculous." Diana says.
"Nice to see you, too, Diana." Charlie nods before walking away with Moody.
"All except Gilbert Blythe. He's dreamy, but he won't be here today." Diana sighs. I roll my eyes. Diana leads her over to the girls. "This is Jane Andrews, Josie Pye, Ruby Gillis, and Tillie Boulter. Everybody, this is Anne."
