Y/n sat on her bed, wondering how she got there. It was evening again, which means she slept the day away, but she didn't even remember coming home from the party. She remembered not wanting to get drunk, but then remember seeing something that made her change her mind. What did I see that made me change my mind? She thought long and hard, trying to remember something from the previous night, then shook her head in defeat; she couldn't remember.

She sighed and got out of bed to get ready for the evening lessons she had to go to. She pulled on some black pants and a silk, white, button-up shirt. Buttoning the cuffs, she wondered if Valerian had gone home after the party or just stayed with Prince Cardan. Although, she didn't actually care; she just wanted to know if she shared the house with anyone that evening. She pulled on her black boots, slid a dagger into the sheath (which was hidden in her right boot), strapped on a silver belt, and she left her room.

Y/n walked down the spiral staircase, her hand sliding down the side of it. She walked into the kitchen and took the basket that was waiting for her. She peaked inside to see what was packed for her today. She found freshly baked white bread (it was still warm) with homemade orange jam, a red apple, and the salt she always asked for—just in case Jude needed it. She spotted Valerian's basket next to the spot hers was in. She figured he was home and hadn't woken up yet.

She went outside and started to walk down the path to her lessons.

Jude and Taryn had already laid a blanket out and were sitting down, when she got there. She noticed Jude wave her over—which didn't go unnoticed by Valerian and his friends—and she sat down next to her.

"Good evening," Y/n greeted in a posh tone.

Jude chuckled and replied in the same tone. "Good evening," she said.

Y/n gave Taryn a smile, which she returned with a short nod.

"Did you bring me home last night?" Y/n asked Jude.

Jude shook her head. "No, I didn't. You didn't even come back after I told you to get some wine for yourself."

"I didn't?"

"Nope."

Y/n furrowed her eyebrows in thought. "Do you know who did take me home?"

"I don't," said Jude, "You can't remember how you got home?"

"I can't remember passed deciding to get drunk," Y/n said. "I remember I went to the drinks table and drank one cup of wine, but then decided I didn't want to get drunk. So, I left the table to go back to you, but as I was walking back, I saw something happen to you and Taryn. I can't remember what I saw, but it made me decide to get drunk. That's the last thing I remember."
