Natalie slept in last night. Just a little.
It was an honest mistake, she forgot that her potion dosage had been upped and her vials were changed to the thicker ones.
She accidentally downed an entire vial instead of the half she was supposed to drink. She didn't know how she wasn't still passed out in her bed from the amount she took, but she wasn't inclined to complain and test her luck.
So, as she rushed to the Great Hall she simply thanked whichever greater power was watching over her.
When she finally arrived at the Great Hall, she was slightly out of breath. Taking a moment to breathe, lest she walk in huffing and puffing and making a general fool out of herself, she didn't see Black and Pettigrew standing besides the door.
"Suffocating, Leonie? It must be my lucky day." came a voice she recognized all too quickly. Internally cursing, Natalie collected herself and turned to face Black.
"Not lucky enough, just needed to catch my breath."she returned.
Merlin, she really wanted to hex him. For what? Normally for breathing in her general vicinity but right now it was because he had that stupid grin on his face. The one that was constantly aimed at her and seemed to convey the message of 'I'm Sirius Black And I'm So Much Better Than You'.
She knew a spell that would turn his teeth black and rotted, maybe he wouldn't grin so much after. But she knew it probably wouldn't look too good for her on the first day of school and held herself back.
"If Slytherin players are winded this easily, the Quidditch Cup is in the bag for Gryffindor this year." Sirius said to Pettigrew, earning him a glare from Natalie.
"Don't kid yourself, Black. You barely won last year and it was only because our Seeker got hit with a Bludger, one I know you sent towards him."
Black's smirk just grew. "That sounds like your team has issues flying, if they can't manage to doge a simple bludger. Need lessons, Leonie?" Natalie barely withheld an eyeroll.
He had been targeting their Seeker, Blake Simon, the entire final game. If the bludger wasn't aimed towards Simon it was at her, making her job as Chaser that much harder.
"Whatever you need to tell yourself Black, just don't get too upset when Slytherin wins this year. You don't have a mommy to cry to anymore." And after that very low blow, she shoved past him and towards her table.
She knew she probably shouldn't be the one to instigate future fights, but it was just too easy. Besides, he brought it onto himself. He could've minded his business and continued with whatever troll-level conversation he was having with Pettigrew.
Sighing, she banished all negative thoughts of Black from her head. Her mind was clear of him just as she made it to her table.
Salvo was waiting for her with a plate already made. "Slept in?" he asked as she got closer and she just nodded and started eating the eggs and toast he left her while he made her tea.
He patiently waited for her to finish eating and when she was done he asked "What's got you in such a foul mood?"
"Black." she muttered as she reviewed her schedule one final time. She had Herbology first and would probably need to make her way down to the greenhouse soon if she didn't want to be late. "We're winning the Quidditch Cup this year, I don't care if it means we practice every night." she told him very seriously.
