Cassie's POV
I was five years old. I was sitting in the kitchen, it was my birthday. I was silently waiting, waiting for something, anything. I heard the front door slam shut, then large footsteps, trekking up the stairs, where my mother was.
I knew it was my father who came through that door. He often came home like this, drunk and brutal.
Little did I know, that time was different.
I heard a loud booming noise.
A gunshot.
A high pitched scream. It was full of pure anguish and pain.
My mother.
Then another gunshot.
Then a thud.
Then silence.
I didn't I understand it. I only thought of the constant fights my parents had. It happened the same every time.
I'd wake to my parents screaming at each other. Then, my father would stomp down the stairs, always pure hatred in his eyes. He'd go out the front door, not returning until late hours, drunk. Every day.
That day, I walked upstairs into mommy and daddy's room. I saw blood everywhere, my mind swirling, I was so conf-
My eyes darted open. I looked around my bed, noticing that I was dripping in sweat. My hair was mangled and my sheets were strewn everywhere.
I looked over to my clock.
3:28am
I decided to just get up and shower.
As I stepped in, I let all my memories drown out along with the warm water.
Now that Carlee and Mitch are leaving, My horrific childhood memories were slowly returning. The nightmares constantly haunted me, refusing to leave.
After my shower, I threw on an oversized T-shirt, sweat pants, and a pair of fuzzy socks. I sat back on my bed, opening my laptop.
I scrolled through Youtube, catching up on everything I missed the past four days. None of Jerome and Mitch's fans knew about Carlee and I or that Jerome was going to school. It was painful enough for me, but to see all the hateful tweets and comments we were bound to get, it was just going to gradually get worse.
When I finally took another glance at my clock, it was already 8am. Not a second later, I heard movement below me.
"Packing." I told myself through gritted teeth.
I shut my laptop and stood up to open my door. Before I could get to the door, my phone buzzed. Someone was calling me.
Unknown
"Um, hello?" I asked, sheepishly.
"Is this Cassandra?" A gruff male voice asked.
"Yes, can I help y...." I trailed off quietly.
"I'm coming for you."
