Chapter 21

Caught in a lie

About a month had passed since the young couple had started dating, things going as smooth as butter, even so, the rocky relationship between Haewon's father and Jungwon finally cleared up.

The only problem still standing was the mean girl, who so loved to terrorize Haewon at school. It seemed the moment Eunjung found out about Haewon fancying the young idol, she never left her alone, yet still oblivious to the fact that they were dating.
Jungwon tried to soften the enraged girl, occasionally chatting with her assuring that he is by no means interested in Haewon or any other girl in that matter - while being strongly in love. Of course, he couldn't tell his girlfriend the fact that he often talked with Eunjung. He knew that jealousy would spike up. He also warned Eunjung to be wary of what she says-not to mention his name to anyone in case a dating rumor spreads.

Haewon, as always dozing off in class, couldn't care less about what the teacher was saying. All she cared about was the feeling of regret.Regret of texting her boyfriend until 4 am the night before school. As usual, Eunjung threw snarky comments at the tired girl but she was way too exhausted to bother, plus her friend- Yuna, protected her wholeheartedly."Who does she think she is...." Yuna quietly scoffed, resting her hand on her palm."Can't we just reveal you are dating...him...?I WANT TO SEE HER SUFFER"
Yuna whisper yelled, which made Haewon chuckle."If we reveal it, he might get hate ya know.."The sleepy one answered, stretching her arms forward."True but just imagine" Yuna smiled, thinking of how angered and displeased Eunjung would be.During lunchtime Haewon, Yuna and Connie would often go on the school rooftop to chat, since no one else went up there.
During the last month of unbearable bullying, Connie did his best to cheer up his friends whom he cared about a lot, especially after he finally got close to the one he cares most about.

*flashback*

One Tuesday right before classes started, Yuna quite uneasy approached her best friend, handing her a small pink note."Meet me at the rooftop immediately - I will wait for you by the fence" The note read, by the messy handwriting she quickly understood who it came from- Connie.Making her way up towards the roof she wondered, what would he want.To confess his feeling again? Or just a favor like he sometimes does? Opening the large door, she saw him sitting down, back against the fence."What's up," she said upon seeing the short-haired boy. Unlike most times, he looked serious, which made Haewon rather worried. "I know about your boyfriend.."
He quietly said, not even looking up at her."How? I tried to hide it..." She gasped, a hand covering her mouth."The day I visited you at the shop, I saw a boy waiting outside, I waited just to see what he would do, I thought he might be a creep you know..." He smiled a little, not out of happiness, but out of pure sorrow "You seemed close"He finally looked up at Haewon, who still stood by the large metal door that lead to the rooftop."I thought he looked familiar, yet I didn't know where, later on, I saw him on Twitter- an idol" "I am sorry I couldn't tell you" The girl whispered, slowly approaching Connie."It's okay, it's not like I still have feelings towards you," He said with a smile on his face, yet in his eyes tears built up."You are awsome Connie, the greatest boy I've met, we are just not meant to be" A chuckle escaped the boy's mouth, while he still sat down, elbows rested on his knees." At least, can we stay as friends?" he asked worried of the girl's answer."Of course, we can just don't tell anyone about Jungwon" She whispered, putting her hand on his shoulder.He looked up at her and smiled sweetly "Thanks Won" He said, before looking back down, getting lost in his thoughts."I'll see you later then," she spoke, before exiting the rooftop, heading back down towards her friend Yuna.The moment she left, a single tear fell down the saddened boy's cheek, he touched his face, gently whipping the tear away."Why am I crying" he thought, looking down at his hand.

*Eating their sandwiches the three friends enjoyed their lunch on the windy rooftop while scrolling through social media."Yo, your husband posted" Yuna said, showing her phone to Haewon.Taking a quick look at the picture she immediately noticed something quite odd about it - a bag, a bag SO familiar stood on the small couch behind Jungwon."Where's Eunjung right now?" She immediately asked her two friends. Connie who was still eating his sandwich, unbothered by the sudden tension immediately answered ."She as at Hybe, they have practice" With that sentence Haewon's brows furrowed." He lied to me" she whispered."What?" both Yuna and Connie said in union, confused by the sudden change in the girl's mood. Snatching the phone out of Yuna's hand she zoomed in on the small pink bag that laid carelessly on the couch."Guess whose bag is that," She said annoyed. Her two friends immediately answered with the obvious "Eunjung" "How do you know it's from today tho? It might be an old photo" Yuna said, trying to soften up the situation. Haewon on the other hand didn't speak at all, she just handed her phone back and pulled out her own. Scrolling through a chat with what seemed like Jungwon, she pulled out a picture of just the same outfit from the Twitter post sent by her boyfriend, with the message beneath 'My outfit for today heh' "That's how I know," she said with such a low voice, she scared the birds that Connie was feeding with crumbs of his sandwich."MY FRIENDS" he whined as he looked at the little ones flying away."I will kill him and then I will kill that dumb bitch too," Haewon said standing up, and with a quick step exiting the rooftop of course shutting the door closed as loud as she could."I've never seen her so angry..." Yuna said, her mouth still agape."I have, I'm still upset about the pigeons tho" he answered looking at the pile of breadcrumbs on the floor."I can't with you I swear" Yuna chuckled.
