Despite himself, Alister enjoyed Deion's company. There are worse people to be stuck on the top of a twelve-foot gated fence with, after all. Alister could see why Deion enjoyed it so much up here. The view of the city was spectacular, he could see so many things he never saw in person. And if you were quiet enough to listen to the silence, you could hear the faint sound of birds sleeping in their nests in the trees above. Fear of heights aside, Alister was glad Deion dragged him up here. Though he would never admit to anyone but himself.

"Where to next?" Alister asks as they are climbing their way back down.

"Well, I contributed a place, now it's your turn," Deion responds, and Alister furrows his brows in confusion.

"Show me your life, Alister, give me something," Deion says as the sound of his boots hitting the ground vibrates through the gate.

"Alright. I can do that," Alister says as they are walking back to the Impala.

"But I'm going to have to drive," He finishes and Deion stares at him in a 'you must be fucking with me' kind of way.

"No way," Deion says and moves the keys out of Alister's reach.

"I mean unless you don't want it to be a surprise, or you want to be blindfolded, or you don't want to experience my life," Alister says and glances at Deion with a calculated look. The kind of look when a person stares at you for a second too long, trying to change your mind, manipulating their way into your mind.

"Wow, guilt-tripping and blackmail, I'm impressed, man," Deion says and laughs slightly, shaking his head as he tosses the keys to Alister.

The corner of Alister's mouth quirks up, and Deion makes a mental note. That's the closest he's gotten to Alister smiling in the last couple of hours. Deion smiles to himself as he opens the door and gets into the passenger side.

"I am never letting you drive my car again," Deion says as they are walking up the pavement to Alister's spot. Alister's lips curl into a slight smile as he tosses the keys back to Deion.

"Oh, come on, I wasn't even driving that fast," Alister complains as they enter the brick building.

"Whatever you say," Deion replies. His attention immediately goes to the warning sign on the wall. He raises an eyebrow at Alister.

"Uh-huh," Alister says dramatically before rolling his eyes and opening the door that leads down to the basement.

"Now I really feel like you're a psychopathic killer ready to murder me," Deion mutters as he follows the boy down the cramped hallway.

"Is it because I dragged you up the fence? Because if it is... I'm sorry, I'm SORRY OKAY?" Deion shouts and Alister laughs aloud, the sound echoing off the hollow walls.

"I'm not going to kill you, would you just relax and get down here?" Alister calls over his shoulder from the end of the hall.

Alister unlocks the door and walks through the tape strips hanging from the ceiling. The doorway opens up into an industrial-styled room.

"What is this place?" Deion asks as he walks around the empty space.

"You climb a twelve-foot fence to get away, I walk down a narrow hallway into an old mechanical plant," Alister says, shoving his hands into his pockets and shrugging.

"How did you find this place?" Deion asks and Alister shrugs again.

"My dad had some friends, before he threw me out, he had them set me up somewhere to crash," Alister says and Deion glances back at the boy leaning against the wall.

"I'm sorry he threw you out," Deion says.

"Ah... don't worry about it, man. It... it's fine. I mean, it was a long time ago," Alister says, rubbing the back of his neck and staring blankly out the window.

"Still sucks, you know?" Deion mumbles and Alister raises his eyes to meet Deion's.

"It sure fucking does," Alister says and chuckles slightly, but not an ounce of humor can be found in his words or his face.
