THE MALFOY AND LESTRANGES WERE WELL KNOWN NAMES WITHIN THE WIZARDING COMMUNITY.
Though, there was a difference that lurked behind them. While the Malfoys were a sacred twenty-eight family, a respectable reputation lingering around their name, the Lestrange was not. Malfoys were high in money, power, and what people desired to make the perfect family of. One would never find them at the scene of the crime, guilty, even though their fingerprints would be found all over the guilty wand. They were made up of independent, inherited wealth that would never make them need to struggle for a job. They would take upon the throne, letting someone clean their feet and do donkey work, and taking responsibility for failure. They would do anything to win, even if it included paying for dirty work to hex the opposer.
While the Lestrange family still had money, they were more widely known for their darkness and not power. Line tainted by dark wizards, leading all the way to Leta Lestrange. The family were known for being cruel and manipulative. If one were to tell a person that their name was Lestrange, then a sign written on their back and forehead saying 'stay away' would be equivalent. On the flip side, their magic was known to be excellent. It was a natural trait for the line to be good at duelling and non-verbal magic. It couldn't override the way the name was stained with dirt and malice. They were powerful enough to have someone bow down and scrub their feet if they tried hard enough.
Leta Lestrange was known for her cold spirit, and happened to be one of the sacred twenty-eight. Rich descent, old pure-blooded line. A crow will not pull out the eye of another crow, the family said. Brother to Rodolphus and Rabastan Lestrange, sister-in-law to Bellatrix Lestrange. The woman bore the infamous Dark Mark on her inner left forearm. The sign of terror, a colossal skull with a serpent exiting its mouth like a tongue. Prior to the first wizarding war, the woman engaged whom she believed to love, Antonin Dolohov. Leta saw him as someone who she could stay with forever, as they had their similarities. The woman went into hiding after she had heard of her husband's downfall, bringing great distraught to her as it was no secret that the pair were planning to get married.
And from there on, in the year of 1980, the two passed on the legacy of the name, continuing the line. While the Malfoys' was extended on 5 June 1980, the Dolohov-Lestrange legacy was passed on a day earlier. The two mothers grew close, having known each other from Hogwarts — Narcissa Malfoy and Leta Lestrange.
Narcissa Malfoy in particular, would remind her of the fun year she had with both Antonin and Sonya, she never hesitated to see the woman at every chance she got. "Why don't you focus on getting your husband out of Azkaban first?" Sonya asked her, just prior to their apparition to the Malfoy manor. Her mother wanted said chance to see Cissy.
