THE FALL

(BEFORE THE RISE)

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷

SONYA UNDERSTOOD THAT NOT EVERYONE SHE MET WOULD LIKE HER. It was something she had known since she was ten, but refused to believe until she was eleven and a half. The young girl had never seen anything wrong with herself; she was kind, helped people with their work, and quiet. She wasn't a nuisance, so why did she receive so many dirty looks in the walls of Zoxerra?

Maybe it had something to do with her heritage. . . but no, she couldn't blame all her life problems on the fact that she comes from a family of pure-blood supremacists and recently-known death eaters. Financial problems? It's okay, my family were never really one to lose money, I can ask my mother. Injured? I can handle pain like the other Lestranges did. Forced to do tasks she didn't necessarily liked? I'll find a way out of it later... maybe I can hold it against them to make them do something in return. Friendship problems? I can keep them in, I'll just remind them that they owe me.

These thoughts of the past were what etched a frown onto Sonya's face as she ate dinner in the great hall with Blaise, Draco and Greengrass. Maybe she should call her Daphne, but she didn't know her well enough. Anyway, the thing was, once she started, she couldn't stop. It was what made a small smile crawl on to her face at the end of the day as she stared at the roof above her while in bed, knowing that she had at least accomplished something worthwhile.

But then, the frown slowly formed into a straight line as she realised other things that she'd done back at Zoxerra. The girl named Sheila Hernandez in the year below her, the boy named Blake Cattermole in her year.

Draco and Blaise were whispering about Potter, and the events of last year. The blonde boy talked about him so much that Sonya had started to think he had a small obsession.

"Come off it, Blaise. We all know how much of an attention seeker Potter can be. . ."

"I'm just thinking about it though, why would he fake it? Especially —"

Blaise stopped in the middle of his speech, looking to something at the upper side of Sonya. She raised an eyebrow, questioning him why he stopped mid-talking. It was very badly-timed as she actually wanted to hear what the boy had to say. But no, the girl who stood behind Sonya had to be there right now.

Alexandra leant down to Sonya's ear, before whispering. "I'm trusting you not to tell. I'm gonna sneak the twins into Slytherin's common room, I want them to see it. Don't tell anyone, okay? It's... business."

With that, the girl left, going round to the Gryffindor table. Sonya knew that Alexandra she was receiving several glares and stares from the Slytherins, and some Gryffindors too, but she could care less. Sonya looked up to that, her amount of confidence. She probably didn't have to be reminded of her mother's voice to not care about people's opinions.
