Stacie passed Beca a bottle of water behind her so that she could keep hydrated, and then put her foot down and drove. Beca was telling her if they were turning or not. They were on the straight road. Replying to Chloe, she apologized, she explained that they were so close but clearly missed them. Not wanting Chloe to worry about her, she failed to mention about the gun wound, she figured Chloe would see that later, but right now she didn't want her to panic. She just focused on seeing where they were going, which for now looked like they were heading back into the centre of Los Angeles.
Making sure that Beca was checking, she quickly phoned Aubrey as she'd missed a couple of calls. Aubrey wasn't happy that Stacie was a couple of towns over until Stacie filled Aubrey in on everything that was happening. Beca interrupted by saying 'down here' followed by an apology. Aubrey asked if Beca was okay and if they needed extra eyes or anything.
"As great as it would be, Bree, just stay where you are. We're following her, well sort of. She must be at least half an hour ahead of us."
"Look, where are you heading? What's her location? I want to help you."
"Are you sure?"
They gave Aubrey Chloe's location and said where they were. Aubrey was getting ready to head towards them, she brought her work partner along so that one of them could be on the phone and they all shared their location just to be on the safe side in case one of their phones died, which by now, Beca's was certainly on the verge of dying. She was on 20% and to her surprise, even though Stacie had everything in the van for a killing night, she didn't have chargers. But that was a conversation for another day. They were both on the clock. At least they had another pair of eyes helping to find Chloe.
Beca had only gotten a couple of messages from Chloe since they were on the road.
They were back on the highway and on a long stretch of road, Stacie could see something in the distant. She wasn't entirely sure but she's not ruling out that she could see a vehicle further up the road.
"Beca, are they on the highway, preferably on this long stretch of road?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Stay calm, but I honestly think that that's them in the distance. Where's Aubrey?"
"Ok ok. Aubrey is close to the intersection, near Sandberg."
"She's making time quick. Call her through the car."
Talking to Aubrey, she was going to turn off at the intersection just in case that the vehicle Chloe was in did. At least they could all be on the same side of the road whether they turned off or not. Aubrey sat by with her lights off just to make it less obvious there was a car there.
The vehicle didn't turn off, it was heading back into the city. Her partner had an idea that happened so quickly, she took a photo of the vehicle.
Calling the girls, she was going to continue driving but staying a safe distance back just in case it got messy.
"I've made out the image, just, and chucked the details into the internet. It's a Californian plate, the reg is 3WVO937, and apparently is registered to a Thomas James Williams."
"Call the girls again, maybe they know him? I don't think I know the name."
Doing so, they found out who it was. Stacie remembered an old boyfriend of Chloe's at college called Tom Wilson. Could it be a coincident?
