The eagles dropped off the dwarves at a Carrok that looked almost like a bear. Each dwarf hopped off the eagles they rode on and immediately rushed to a still Thorin.

"Move!" Gandalf ordered, kneeling by the king. He mumbled words and wove a hand over Thorin. He awakened with a slight gasp. "Erica...the halfling" He breathed

"Fine, they are both fine" Gandalf smiled. Thorin sat up and stood. He glared at Bilbo " what are you doing!? You trying to get yourself killed!? Did I not say you would be a burden?!" He yelled angrily. bilbo looked down in disappointment until Thorin smiled. " I've never been so wrong in all my life " he breathed out hugging him tightly. Bilbo hugged back smiling "it wasn't just me. You should have seen our girl". He chuckled.

That's when Fili and. Kili realised something. They snapped their heads to each other then to the group.

"OI! WHERE THE BLODDY HELL IS ERICA!?" Kili and fili yelled in panic. Thorin snapped his head towards the group and found Erica was no where in sight. He snapped his head towards Gandalf with rage in his eyes.

"Gandalf! Where is she!?" He roared in anger.

"The eagles picked her up I swear!" The old wizard defended quickly.

"Look!" Dwalin yelled pointing to the sky. An eagle approached them with a still body in it's talons. Gently it rested the body of Erica on the ground and flew away. Her white hair faded back to black and her skin became not ghostly pale anymore. The frosted markings upon her body faded away, but bloody openings decorated her skin.

"Erica!" Kili cried running to her. Thorin and co followed on and crowded round her, yelling for her to wake up.

"Move, move!" Gandalf growled kneeling next to her. The dwarves moved back to give some room. Gandalfs face held worry and panic as he looked over her still body. A large scar ran down the side of her eye. 'An inch more could have blinded her but she was lucky.' He thought grimly

He was more worried about the strain of the power that her inner spirit gave her...

"Gandalf! Help her please!" Thorin begged. Gandalf glanced at the dwarf king and saw the love in his eyes for this girl. He nodded and began to chant the incantation he did on Thorin.

But she didn't wake up like Thorin.

"Erica, please, please wake up" Kili whimpered. Fili hugged him and moved him away to give them space. Gandalf tried again and again but it didn't work...

He sighed and shook his head "I am sorry Thorin..." He whispered moving away. Thorins eyes widened and looked down at Erica. His heart began to twist in pain.

She was dead...

He curled his fists tightly. He blamed himself for being so foolish. He blamed himself for taking on Azog when he knew Erica would jump in. He blamed himself for falling so easily and not protecting her.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and laid his forehead against hers "please Erica...please don't leave us...don't leave me, I need you...please" he chocked, finally letting the tears go.

The other dwarves lowered their heads in sorrow, for the loss of their beloved member.

Gandalf took his hat off, running a hand over his face. He was afraid of this. She wasn't ready for this power at all. Now she was gone because he never warned her...

Thorin continued to cry for the loss of the small girl before him. She grew on him so much making him fall for her hard. Now he'd never be able to tell her....tell her how much he loved her...

A single teardrop fell onto her moon stone without him knowing. Slowly it glowed brighter and brighter making him draw back in shock. Her wounds began to fade away and the colour returned to her face.

"Cherish her Thorin, son of Thrain, never let her go..... " Thorin heard a whisper. He shook his head thinking he was hearing things.

The glowing dimmed suddenly and reverted back to a stone. He heard a light groan and snapped his attention back to Erica who slowly began to stir.

"Gandalf!" He called. The old wizard quickly ran over and laid a hand on her forehead "Erica? Erica come back to us now" he mumbled.

Slowly but surely, her eyes opened but winced due to the bright light of the sun. "Give her some room now" Gandalf ordered the dwarves who moved back as Thorin helped her sit up. She blinked twice and looked at everyone "umm, why are you all crowded round me" She asked nervously making everyone sigh out in relief and smile widely. Fili and Kili barrelled in and hugged her tightly "we are so glad your okay" fili breathed out

She patted their heads and pulled back smiling. Slowly she shakingly stood, letting the group hug her a few at a time. She faced Thorin who looked relieved but angry "why did you do that!? what do you do!? Jump in and almost get yourself killed!" He yelled angrily

"Now Thorin it's not..." Gandalf began

"Let me finish!" Thorin growled grabbing Erica's shoulders gently "you are so stupid for doing that! I almost believed I lost you forever! I can't loose you you stupid girl! I love you!" He chocked. He felt Erica tense under his hold as he said those words "I...I..." She whispered

Thorin couldn't take it any more. He smashed his lips over hers making her tense, but she slowly kissed back, wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. He held her tightly to him and kissed her passionately. He pulled away and held her face between his hands and laid his forehead against hers "don't you ever scare me like that again..." He warned

"I won't" she whispered. He smiled and kissed her again gently. He caressed her cheek and hugged her to him. She clung to his jacket and smiled.

"Does this mean we can call you aunty now?" Fili asked with a big grin. Erica blushed a deep red and buried her face in Thorins chest making him laugh. He looked at her seriously "I love you very much Erica Silvermist. But don't risk your life for me like that again...I can't bear the thought of loosing you..." He whispered.

Erica squeezed his hands gently "...I love you too...but I can't make any promises because I can not live without you" she said. He sighed, she was just as stubborn as himself.

But he didn't care at all. He could finally call her his. He looked towards the distance and smiled "look Erica" he whispered pointing to the distance. She looked in his direction and smiled.

Erebor was upon their view. A bird flew by them.

"A raven! They are returning to the mountains!" Odin cried out happily

"That my dear Oin is a thrush" Gandalf pointed out with a chuckle.

"Erebor. Your almost home" Erica smiled. She felt Thorins hand take hers "no...we are almost home dear Erica. We are also close to finding out who your real family are" he said.

She smiled and took In the scene before her.

"I do believe the worst is behind us" bilbo sighed.

If only anyone knew how wrong he was...
