This is a slippery slope (not nearly as bad as the Moon-Winter-Qibli triangle, but still...)
I actually ship this A LOT.
It's just, they're so good for each other. Sunny counters Starflight's nervousness and inspires him to be a better dragon, and Starflight believes in and trusts Sunny to be her own capable dragon, which is what she really needs (and what the rest of the DoD fails to provide. Except Clay.)
Also, literally the entirety of Starflight's book was him being very adorably in love with Sunny.
But Sunny's book was all, 'should I love him? I love him like a brother. Maybe I am obligated to love him.' And I HATE IT. (except that one part where she gets some jealousy involving Fatespeaker >:3) BUT the entire time she is like what if...? Maybe she didn't love him right away, because she hadn't thought of him like that, but now that she has, she has the chance to develop those kinds of feelings.
It's just... it's not cannon.
And I guess Starflight won't be completely devastated because he has Fatespeaker... but still.
I ship Sunnyflight more.
Even if it's not cannon.
I am a big fan of childhood friendship ships (ask me what I think of BamLisa), and this is the ONLY ONE IN THE WINGS-OF-FIRE FANDOM SO FAR. SO I SHIP IT.
Also: Starflight's dragonet who looks all Nightwing? She could easily just be two-thirds Nightwing (tribrids usually just take on the dominant traits of their parents). So FATESPEAKER DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THE MOTHER.
So, basically, all that needs to happen for this ship to become cannon...
is for Sunny to be from Alabama.
:)
10/10 ship
