Onika POV

March had left as quick as it rolled in. The weather in New York was transitioning from gloomy and depressing to sunny but still cold. It basically depicted my work life right now. This month Dr. Knowles had me stressed out, she was taking up more cardiac procedures, so that meant more time in the O.R but time for myself was out the door. I basically became accustomed to living in on call rooms.

I was not complaining though. I had the opportunity to complete a coronary artery bypass, heart valve replacement and an aneurysm repair alongside Dr. Knowles. Although we never spoke about the club incident. I would still try to steal glances at her groin area to see if sis was really packing or if it was a dream.

But despite it all, it never affected her ability to educate me. She even began taking me to her board meetings with other notable cardiac surgeons around the country. Last week Saturday we went to cardiothoracic convention where she was actually presented with an award, she had no idea she was getting. It was quite funny because I had to keep nudging her to go on the stage and accept it. That day showed me despite her intimidating and bitchy persona, deep down she was really an introverted and modest person.

Today was Saturday my only day off in the past four weeks. I was hoping to lay down and Netflix all day, but I got a text from Dr. Knowles requesting that I come in. She emphasized that we needed to research an important procedure and to 'dress comfortable'. I was punching the air right now but nevertheless I got my ass up and got ready. I decided to go with white t-shirt and white leggings, navy bomber jacket and some Nike air forces.

Once I was ready, I took my stroll to the hospital, I stopped and got us some coffee on the way. When I got to her office, I buzzed the door, she let me in right away, but her office was empty. I could hear muffled voice talking on the phone, but I couldn't see her. It sounded like she was in a heated conversation with somebody, but I could not make out what she was saying.

A few moments later she emerged from some hidden door, looking pissed. I took a moment to take in her beauty she was makeup free, rocking an oversized IVY PARK hoodie and some jeans. I've never seen her so dressed down before, but it definitely turned me on.

She didn't acknowledge me; she took a seat ran her hands down her face and then turned to me.

"I'm sorry to bother you on your day off Maraj I-"

I stopped her midway. "Dr. Knowles it's fine. What do you need help with?"

"Well, a good friend of mine needs a quintuple bypass...And I promised him that I can do it. But I've never done one before."

"Because only one has been done in history... Did you reach out to Dr. Stokes the first surgeon to do it."

"Very smart Maraj, and yes, I did unfortunately he passed some months back. That's why I need your approach as well. As you know this is a very complex procedure and I hate messing up. We'll start by reading through some journals if you find something interesting let me know."

She handed me over a stack full of research papers. I decided to kick off my shoes and take a seat in the loveseat near the window.

Five hours had gone by in a blink of an eye, I would steal quick glances at her from time to time. She had her legs kicked up on her desk, while her eyes intently read over the paperwork in front of her. She did get up a few times to take calls, whoever she was talking to they kept getting into fiery exchanges. At one point she turned her phone off completely and the person started calling her main office line.
