I was in a world of darkness for hours it felt. I knew this feeling though. It was the feeling of anastasia. But once the darkness disappeared, I saw a light above me and ceiling tiles as lifeless as paint drying. I looked around and saw velvet green curtains, with creamed colored sheets and blankets. I had multiple IV's in my arms, and oxygen tubes in my nose. This was not at all new to me, but something about this room felt different to me, there were purple, white, and yellow flowers in a glass vase on the dresser beside my bed. I looked at the clock saying 1:23 pm. I didn't see my father or my sister anywhere, which was a first. Then I found the magical remote that lets me contact the nurses. I pressed the button and waited for their arrival. After twenty minutes they finally came. They asked how I was, and checked my vitals. I asked one time,"What happened and where is my family?" The nurse looked at me as she frowned, and said, "Darling, your father had to take your sister home because, she was totally exhausted, waiting to see you. She waited many hours before she was taken home by your father." I found the clipboard with my chart on it and reached for it. The nurse grabbed it and told me the doctor will be in with me soon. Then she handed me the tv remote and said I could watch what I wanted to relax. So, I grabbed the remote and pressed the on button. The news came on saying a pandemic had infected people all around the world. There were rumors that the virus had been released from a science lab in China. I was confused at first but kept watching to see all the information on this new virus. Then my hospital room door opened and the doctor came in with a mask on and gloves, the nurse had worn the same thing. I turned the tv off to listen to what he had to say. "Hello dear, how are you feeling? I see you have heard about the virus." I replied, " I feel weird, my leg feels weird and my body is weak." He had told me that I was indeed infected by this virus, along with some complications of my own. The next words he said I will never forget, "Rose, the tumor in your leg was removed but was worse than we thought. It has spread throughout your body." I was frozen. I couldn't believe the words coming out of his mouth. He had told me that my tumor had grown into cancer, and really bad cancer. Stage three, cancer. I was going to have to be treated with chemotherapy, and many different medications for the virus. I was not allowed to see my family so I could not spread the virus, but my family was quarantined, until they were sure who had the virus. Tears uncontrollably fell down my face. He said my treatment would start tomorrow and left the room. I looked for my bag that had my phone in it. As soon as I grabbed it I called my father as quickly as I could. He put my sister on so we could talk, I could tell the news crushed my family, Lily the most. I cried hard when I was told that my family also had the virus and I was not allowed to see them until we were all healthy and I would be out of the hospital. I had to sign up for online college, so did Lily. Our birthday suddenly didn't sound as exciting as we had hoped for.
