Chapter 10: Information and Sparking An Interest

A couple of days passed by and L was getting bored with the results. He had found out that Midoriya's mother had died, he was living alone in his house, and he helped tutor a couple of kids. Light was perfect as usual, and L could tell he was hiding something. He suspected Light to be Kira more than Midoriya, but he was interested in the greenette more. One day, L was doing surveillance on the homes when he noticed something. Midoriya looked as though he was setting up his bedroom for something. He started recording the cameras in Light's house for later and called everyone in the hotel into the screen room to watch.

"What's the kid doing? Setting up for a party or something?"

"No... not a party, but it's something important." L answered. A loud meow was heard on the other end of the camera, followed by a sigh.

"Yes Trixy, I know you're hungry, but you need to wait a moment! You know I'm setting up for the meeting! It's almost 7:00!"

"Meeting? What kind of meeting?" Soichiro questioned, watching the screen closely.

"Turn on camera 15. The one in front of the door." L demanded. Matsuda switched it on and exactly when the clock chimed for 7:00, the door swung open and nine people walked inside.

"Woah, what's with their hair?!" Matsuda exclaimed. L was also fairly surprised. An assortment of whites, blacks, blues, browns, golds, and purples filled the stairwell as the group of males walked up and into Midoriya's room. They opened the door and piled inside.

"Aito-san, we're here!" They watched as Midoriya turned to face the group.

"Good. Did you bring all of the equipment like every time?"

"Yep. Non-traceable laptops, our phones shut off, and headsets. Just as instructed."

"Why would they need non-traceable equipment? What the h*ll do they do in these meetings?"

"Quiet. Let's see what happens." The group all sat down and opened their laptops as Midoriya passed around beverages. He then too sat down and opened up a laptop, placing a set of black headphones onto his ears.

"Kanashibari-kun, did you find anything else?"

"Uh.. yeah. Apparently, Kira killed Raye Penber and his fiance Naomi. Also, right after Penber died, so did 11 other FBI agents."

"Penber? One of the FBI agents that were tailing Light and I?" The eyes of the members of the task force widened in surprise, and L smiled slightly.

"Hm... He was on the bus going to Spaceland the same day as Light and I, and the same day as the attempted Hijack."

"Alright. Misato-kun, anything different from the hospital records?"

"No, they all keep saying that it was cardiac arrest. Boring really."

"Natsu-kun, Haru-kun, Fuyu-kun. Status."

"We've followed Light around and he just seems perfect. No talking to himself, no weird actions, nothing at all. It just makes the guy more suspicious if you ask me."

"Nagai-kun? Anything to add?"

"Well, I've been taking some pictures, and I got some of Light and Naomi together. I also caught some of him in the underground near Penbers death scene, and he was grinning weirdly in a couple also." This made some members surprised.

'They caught footage of Light Yagami that we never received. This group is interesting.' L thought to himself, smiling a bit more.

"Okay, let's take a small break and process this." The group watched as the teens took in a couple of breaths before the male known as "Natsu" lit a cigarette and put it up to his lips.

"Natsu-kun, get that devil stick away from me would ya?! Also, put it out. It's bad for your health."

"Oh quit yer whining. You know it's physically impossible for me to get any type of organ damage. If Kira kills me, it can't be a heart attack, since that can't happen. Hmm... maybe he'll make me get hit by a bus or something..."

"No organ damage at all? How is that possible!?"

"Alright, alright. Just smoke near a window. Just because you can't get organ damage, doesn't mean we aren't prone to it."

"Fine." The boy walked over to the window and opened it, letting out a large puff of smoke into the air.

"So anyway... Aito-san~"

"I know that tone of voice, and the answer is no."

"Oh, c'mon! It has a chance to happen! He's like your soulmate!"

"We've never even met! There are so many other people better than me in this world that he can go with instead! Why me?!" The others watched as the people in the bedroom exchanged glances of disbelief.

"Hm.. let me think. You're crazy smart, you're good-looking, you're the sweetest person in the world, and he's crazy if he thinks otherwise."

"It'll never happen. Now. I'm going to get some food for Trixy, please excuse me." The greenette left the screen and the people on camera glanced at each other. Then, a boy with light brown hair leaned over to the person next to him.

"6,000¥ that it'll happen."

"Sure. I'm down for it. You know how dense Aito-san is, so I doubt he will even acknowledge that someone would have feelings for him."

"Well, I don't blame him. He had, like, multiple lovers when he was in America. And now he doesn't even believe that he will ever find love ever again after that. You know one of them did some pretty s***ty things to him and broke his heart. And you know very well how many people fawn over him at his school. The guy's now so dense when it comes to romance, that someone could confess to him and he would believe that they've got the wrong person."

'Jeez, that's rough.' Matsuda thought to himself.

"Well, maybe he can be broken out of his shell. Who knows, maybe he'll even get Aito-san to tell him his real name, like with us!"

"Aito Seiya is an... alias?!" Soichiro exclaimed. The others looked shocked.

'Interesting. I wonder why...'

"Hey Misato-kun, why does Aito-senpai think L would suspect him and Light as Kira?" Now, this sparked an interest in the Taskforce.

"Aito-san told us during the last meeting that he believed he would be suspected because he was tied in smarts like Light and that he also would have had access to the FBI and NPA files since Tenko-nii was part of it before he went to Elysium. But only Kanashibari-kun has access to them because his dad is in the NPA, and Aito-san refuses to use Tenko-nii's computer because it isn't his. Now shush, he's coming up the stairs." Just then, the task force watched as Midoriya walked back into the bedroom.

"Okay, it's getting late and I don't want to deal with your grumpy attitude tomorrow. Ryokucha, your shift at the club starts in fifteen minutes, Nagai, you have school tomorrow, Nemu, you need to watch over Hayami and Ruri tonight since Remon has a late shift at the salon tonight. The rest... you guys just need more sleep except for Kanashibari, who needs to go train his owls. Now shoo." The teens packed everything up and left, each one hugging Midoriya before heading out the front door.

"Manchmal solche schmerzen. Ich schwöre... (Sometimes such a pain. I swear...)"

"...What?"

"Don't worry, he didn't say anything out of the ordinary," L asserted calmly, "you all continue to monitor and record the other cameras, while Soichiro-san and I go into the other screening room." With that, L got up and walked slowly to the other room, attentive to the information he had obtained.
