I Still Care

Chapter 4

Narrator

Elliot froze in his steps when he saw her at the restaurant across the street, sitting at the table with him, having lunch.

"What the fuck." Emiliano said as he saw what Elliot saw.

Elias and Eli joined in and watched. They watched as Esther chat with Ezra.

"Who's the new guy that's with Essy?" Emiliano asked, still watching.

Esther and Ezra ordered lunch while getting to know each other, oblivious to the crowd they had from across the street.

Esther Reid

"Tell me about yourself, Conlan. Where did your family move from? " I said to Ezra as we waited for our food to get to us.

"My family and I just moved here from London, Father got a new job out here and now here we are in dusty old San Francisco " Ezra said laughing. I gasped and held my chest, hurt that he described my hometown in that manner.

"Don't ever disrespect my city Conlan!" I said laughing. Then the food arrives and we begin to eat.

"You said London? Wow.." I said before taking a bite out of my chicken sandwich.

"What? why the "wow"?" Ezra said curious as to why I said it like that.

"Oh nothing, there's just another person who just moved here from London as well." I said before continuing to eat.

"Really? Who?" Ezra asked me eagerly. Before I could say anything I'm interrupted,

"Congratulations," I hear someone say behind me.

I turn around confused before I see who it is. I sigh loudly and put my face in my palms.

"Please leave me alone" I said annoyed, before apologizing to Ezra for this idiot bothering us.

"Why are you with him again?" Elliot said.

"I'm pretty sure she asked you to leave her alone, Spencer"Ezra said loudly before I could even say anything.

"Im pretty sure I wasn't talking to you. I'm pretty sure I was talking to Esther. So shut it Conlan." Elliot said coming closer to Ezra, causing Ezra to stand up and they were now face to face.

You could feel the tension between the two. I immediately look around for help and see Emiliano running over from across the street.

"Elliot, cut it out. Ezra lets go" I say before grabbing Ezra and walking to the parking garage where my car was.

"Esther! Esther! " Elliot shouted my name, but I just kept it pushing.

As Ezra and Esther walk off together, Ezra looks back to give a smirk to Elliot. Esther doesn't notice because she's on her phone.

"Yes mom?" She said

"Come home sweetie, it's almost time for dinner and we invited the Conlan's to join us." Her mother said. Esther was grateful since she didn't even get to finish her food.

"Oh alright. Ella's coming over too, and she's sleeping over" Esther tells her mother.

"Alright sweetie. Hurry home" Her mother says before ending the call.

As Esther ends the call she reaches her car and she sees that Ezra wasn't behind her.

She turns around and goes back towards the restaurant and she hears them.
