It is now a passing period and students begin to flood the hallway. Among the crowd, we see Esther Reid and Elliot Spencer. Elliot leaned on the lockers, one foot kicked up with his hands in his pocket.

"Esther, we need to talk." He said bluntly, not making eye contact with her at all. Being the person that she is, she quickly noticed his body language and took it as a bad sign.

"Hey, what's up?" she asked sweetly.

"I can't do this. We're over" He says, still not making eye contact with her.  Esther paused before saying anything. Confusion racing through her mind.

"That's it? No explanation? Just that you can't do it? Really Elliot?" She said calmly, but furiously.

"I just, I just" He began but she cut him off.

"Just save it. I don't want to hear your bullshit. If you're not man enough to be honest with me, then I don't want to be with you. I'll give you your shit tomorrow." Esther said with tears swelling up in her eyes, before walking away letting them fall.

Elliot watched her walk down the hallway before he lost her in the crowd.

Esther Reid

As I made my way through the crowd I stumbled upon friends of Elliot's. They all said their "Hello's" to me, however I wouldn't think we would remain friends after they find out Elliot and I have broken up.

My heart ached. My head pounded, I could feel a migraine coming on. I cannot believe after all this time Elliot could just dump me like some random girl, as if we hadn't been together since the sixth grade. Back then we didn't know what it meant to be in a relationship, but together we grew to learn and we grew to communicate and love each other more.

I make my way to the girls bathroom and run inside a stall. It's so hard trying to be strong for everyone and when I need a shoulder to lean on I don't have it cause it dumped me. Elliot was my best friend. I could talk to him about anything and everything and he wouldn't mind listening, although I knew sometimes he didn't want to.

I let the tears fall as I cried really hard. I just didn't understand what I had done to make it do this to me.

"Excuse me?" I heard someone say when they came into the bathroom. I quickly stopped crying and kept it at a sniffle.

"Excuse me? I know someone is in here." The person said. I wiped my face with the sleeve of my crew-neck before opening the door.

"Hi, did you need anything?" I asked, flashing a smile.

"Yes, sorry I'm new here and I was wondering if you happen to know where the main office is?" the red haired girl asked me.

"Yeah, uhm. I'll just take you there." I said. I made sure to rinse my face with water and dry it before walking back out there.

"So, welcome to Reid University. My name is Esther. And you are?" I asked her, trying to sound as cheery as possible.

"Hello, my name is Sophie. Sophie Deveraux, and I am a transfer student from London." She said as we kept walking.

"Oh nice! Must be great out there." I said. We turned the corner and stopped in front of the main office.

"Well, here we are Sophie. I'll see you around." I said before leaving her there.

Narrator

Esther made her way back to class after helping Sophie to the office. While she struggled focusing in class, she wondered if Elliot was as bothered by the break up as much as she was. Her hand was fast to write in her journal during the teacher's lecture.
