A lady played the piano as he stood singing. To Miranda he was gleaming like an angel. His voice gave her goosebumps. She walked over to the back and sat at the bar. She ordered vodka and cranberry. As she listen she started to drift again. Except this time she could still hear his voice. Nobody else was around. It was like his tone those notes were just for her. Then it stop. "Thank you for listening" the driver said as he put the mic up then left the stage. He headed towards the back. Miranda starred. She just knew he was coming for her. As he passed her up he asked the bartender for a sprite then sat. "You sound great" Miranda decided to say. He looks over. Then with shock in his eyes said "umm Ms. Hatchmen's umm". Miranda put her hand out for a shake. "Miranda, Ms. Hatchmen's employee". He laughed accepting her hand shake "me too. Except I don't sleep with her for Mines." Miranda was embarrassed but her drink gave her no care in the world. "I don't sleep with her for my job. We sincerely like each other. She just happens to be my boss." She responds. "Now I know you not telling me you two fine ladies can't find a man" he remarks. Miranda couldn't wipe the smile off her face. She was intrigued at this point that he recognize her. Even under the rather shameful circumstances. "Well I don't think Ms. Hatchmen likes men. Why me on the other hand I don't have a preference." Miranda answers. "Franklin is my name. Sorry about that. So what brings you hear, Miranda." He quickly responds. "You" she responded just as fast. "I heard your voice down the street. It was heavenly". She began to ramble herself about how she never had intention on sleeping with her boss. He interrupted her "you don't have to spill your demons to me we
All have 'em". Miranda bows her head the drink was no longer holding her confidence. He tells her he will be back and walks off. She sit at the bar with another vodka cranberry. As she thinks. What was I thinking. In her thoughts for a few moments, when she final lifts her head she sees Franklin walking out the door. Running out behind him she feels she must save face. "Franklin, can you give me a ride home" she says the first thing that comes to mind. Waving her hand side to side as if she needed saving. He turns to her. Keeping a good humor he say "that's my day job." Not understanding but willing to do anything for another conversation she dug through her purse. "How much do you charge. I was going to catch a cab anyway" Franklin shook his head "its ok this one is on me" Miranda smile grew large again. They listened to the radio on her way home. Not a word was said. Once at her driveway Miranda looks over, hands Franklin her number. He refused to take it. "Sorry I don't deal with confused women" he said. He got out the car and open her door. "I think this is your destination Ms. Miranda" Miranda does the walk of shame up her driveway. She feels horrible but she didn't sleep with him. "That's a first." She thinks outloud. Undressing herself to her bedroom she flops face down into her pillows. The room begins to spin as she falls fast asleep.
