"How did you imagine your first date, anyway?" asked Taehyun before biting into his slice of Quattro Formaggi.

Kai looked up thoughtfully and lowered the slice of his Pizza Hawaii.

How had he imagined it?

Somehow he had never really thought about it, not directly. Especially because he didn't really expect to have onen. So he had to resort to first dates in anime and movies, and scratched his chin thoughtfully. "Well, I never really thought about it that much. I don't like to think ahead that much."

He was always thinking too much anyways.

And besides, it didn't necessarily feel like a first date. Because he felt like he'd been friends with Taehyun for ages.

"But I think first dates are pretty important. After all, that's where you decide if there's going to be a second one."

"So?" inquired Taehyun, not taking his eyes off Kai's face. "Will there be a second?"

Smirking slightly, Kai picked up a slice of the pizza while the whole piece of pineapple fell back onto his plate. "So far, yes. What do you say?"

Taehyun cleared his throat softly.

"Well, I'd already like to see you again."

Kai swallowed hard, nearly choking on the pizza slice and helping himself with big gulps of the water.

"O-okay," he coughed sheepishly and let out a smile, "I found it really enjoyable today too."

Taehyun smiled gently and also slightly amused. Enjoyable was a visit to his grandparents, but he could forgive Kai for it. It was new to him. "You're really cute when you get embarrassed," he teased the shy boy about it.

And that only made the situation worse, as Kai's ears turned fiery red. He laughed sheepishly and scratched his pointy nose. "Sorry," he muttered softly.

"Why are you apologizing?" laughed Taehyun. "Are you uncomfortable with compliments?"

Uncertainly, Kai was still holding the slice of Hawaiian pizza that couldn't be more ironic. Like he would feel safer choosing a pizza he knew well. "A little, maybe."

"You don't want me to give you any more compliments then?" Taehyun offered, but still remained amused, because he had never had a date with a boy who could get so shy. Who was so reserved. "Or would you prefer it if," he reached for the penguin that was constantly near Kai and held the plushie in front of his face, "he took over?"

He playfully turned it back and forth in front of his face.

Incredible that the two were even the same age, but Kai giggled like a schoolboy. He didn't know why he felt so playful around Taehyun, but he thought the way the boy tried to lighten the situation was very cute.
