So Kai and Yeonjun sat on a blanket next to each other in a small forest clearing that offered a good view of the budding lights of the city. Framed by the trees and its shadows that grew darker and darker as the sun set. However, Yeonjun had also made provisions for this eventuality, setting up two battery-powered lamps to provide light while they ate the food that Yeonjun had prepared himself.

"And you really cooked all this yourself?" asked Kai with his mouth slightly full as he fished a piece of meat off the plate and placed it on a lettuce leaf. It was really delicious and you could directly taste out that Yeonjun had put a lot of effort into it. "I didn't know you could cook so well. Well, except for the times you made ramen for us."

But he hadn't assumed that Yeonjun could cool such delicious food.

"Well, since I live alone, it's good to be self-sufficient," the older boy said with a smile, but put his portions back down on the blanket in front of him.

"Yeah right," Kai smiled and stuffed the lettuce leaf with the meat into his mouth. "But it's really delicious."

He let the chopsticks sink onto the blanket before he swayed a little back and forth cross-legged, letting his gaze glide over the beautiful view. The lights seemed garish but like a thousand fireflies. "Thank you for the picnic," he then said with a gentle smile.

"You're welcome," Yeonjun replied softly, almost in a whisper, before raising his hand and gently wiping the corner of Kai's mouth with his thumb.

Shyly, Kai lowered his head and felt the warm ears as soon as he could feel Yeonjun's thumb on his lips. It was really romantic, but at the same time there were also the thoughts that he was to blame for the breakup.

At least indirectly.

And then there was the meeting with Taehyun coming up, which he was also incredibly happy to look forward to. And somehow it felt strange.

But when he looked into the dark sparkling eyes of Yeonjun, he immediately had to think of the kiss and he pressed his lips together thoughtfully.

"Are you okay, Kai?" asked Yeonjun, who couldn't quite interpret his counterpart's silence.

Slowly, the blond nodded, felt the warm fingertips on his chin and sighed. He would have liked to say many things, but he couldn't find the words. "Yeah, I'm okay." At least that's what he thought, but he wasn't really sure about that answer.

If Taehyun was really interested in him, should he tell him about the kiss?

Or would that just hurt him?

Or the other way around, should he tell Yeonjun about his new acquaintance?

Slowly, Yeonjun put his hand back down and pressed his lips together in a thin smile. "It's okay if it's still awkward for you," he half-attempted to understand the younger man's thought processes. "Or strange. I can understand it, after all, you're the first boy I've felt this way about. It's completely new to me."
