Telling his parents had been a big step, but also one he needed.

For far too long he'd been putting this secret off, and after his sisters urged him to finally come out, he'd just gotten it over with.

And it felt good.

Because even if his father showed a surprised expression, his mother seemed to be less surprised, but even said that she had already thought something similar. Nevertheless, it was a load off Kai's mind when he was able to talk to them about it.

How long it had been like this and how he had noticed it.

And there was also this other big issue called Choi Yeonjun.

A topic that was especially close to Kai's heart and he wanted nothing more than to clear things up with Yeonjun. Because the blond himself first called the misunderstanding into the world, by the fact that he had misunderstood this Beomgyu and instead of acting wisely, had gone totally off the rails. And he felt incredibly sorry for that, because Yeonjun had been nothing but honest with him all along. He didn't deserve to be ignored either and for that reason, and just because he loved him, Huening Kai stood at the latter's front door.

He rang the bell and while he heard the whispering of some neighbors, he just hoped Yeonjun would open the door for him.

That he was home at all.

But Kai was lucky, because after only a few seconds Yeonjun opened the door and looked somewhat surprised into the face of the blond Hawaiian. "Kai," it slipped out of the older man with a sad undertone, in which, however, also resonated some hope.

And nervousness immediately came back to Kai's body, so he pressed the fingers of his right hand into the bag, which he then lifted. Inside were two pieces of the same pastry that Yeonjun had brought back then. The grease stain on the brown bag alone revealed that he had probably just bought it, and the shy, embarrassed smile was just as visible on Kai's thin lips.

"Hi," he murmured softly and uncertainly, trying to calm his heart.

But the dark cat eyes looking at him made him even more nervous. Yeonjun's slightly tousled hair was incredibly cute, and Kai wondered why he hadn't noticed the difference from Seojun. Even though it was only a few photos, Seojun didn't have the birthmark under his right eye or the small scar on his chin. His hair was also slightly longer and styled differently.

Likewise, Seojun was wearing vision goggles.

But what stood out most was the smile.

Yeonjun's smile was much warmer and warm, at least in Kai's opinion.

"I messed up," the blond Hawaiian immediately said with great guilt.

"You didn't," Yeonjun immediately replied with a small smirk, because he wasn't even mad at Kai for it. He was just glad that he was here. Nevertheless, Kai chewed on his lower lip, had lowered his head and now also raised his other hand, in which he held the car key from his dad's car. In fact, Kai had now obtained his driver's license, and this image he presented to Yeonjun was only clear. For Kai laughed sheepishly, felt the grumble in his stomach and then rustled with the key.

"Do you feel like going for a ride and eating bungeoppang?" he asked quietly, his eyes glancing to the older man. "I've got Dad's car and license."

Smiling and with a silent nod, Yeonjun stepped closer and put his arms around Kai, placing his chin briefly on the latter's shoulders, but then lifting his head again to give the boy a kiss on the cheek. The sight of the younger boy filled Yeonjun with such joy. His heart beat so hard in his chest that it thumped against Kai's ribcage.

"I really missed you," Yeonjun revealed, kissing the corner of Kai's mouth. In fact, this week had already been too much, especially since he had had no idea what was going on and why Kai was acting so weird.

"I love you, Kai."

A stone fell from the blond boy's heart and this warm hug along with the loving words really did him good. He had spent the last week putting himself in hell and now he also noticed that Yeonjun loved to pull him back out of there. His warm hands were on Kai's back, giving him the support he needed. Even though Kai heard the roaring in his ears as those words fell, he couldn't have been happier, which is why he rested his cheek against the slightly shorter man's shoulder. His perfume smelled pleasant and he was wearing a cozy hoodie that Kai never wanted to let go of.

"And I love you," he finally murmured softly against Yeonjun's ear as he pressed his nose against the latter's neck, trying to put the past few days out of his mind.

As Yeonjun released the embrace and stole a quick kiss, he took the bag from Kai's hand. The warm smile was still on his lips. "Show me how you drive, then."
