Station 126

15 : Earthquake

It's been a couple weeks since Blake's surprise party, and we are still picking confetti off the floor of the house. It was amazing though, I don't regret it. We stayed up all night. Luckily, we had two days off from work, so it worked out pretty well.

I walk into the station.

"Hey." Trav greets me.

"Morning." I say.

"Well, someone's happy today."

"It's a beautiful day outside." I answer.

"Hey, where's Blake?"

I shrug. "He said he had some errands to run before work."

"Oh."

I grab a croissant from the basket on the table, and start eating it.

Suddenly, the entire ground shakes.

"Woah!" Trav exclaims as the shaking subsides. The others come rushing in.

"What was that?" Matt asks.

We just shrug. TK grabs the remote and turns the tv on.

"Austin was just hit with a magnitude 4.5 earthquake. Seismologists are saying that it isn't a big deal, but we should brace ourselves for any aftershocks. It could be a one-time deal. Stay tuned to Fox News for more information."

"Well, I guess we can expect it to be pretty hectic today." Miles says.

We all groan. Just then, Blake walks in.

"Hey did you feel-" I start, but he just rushes over to me, grabs my arm, and drags me towards the sleeping quarters. "Blake!" I exclaim. He pulls me into the room, and closes the doors. "What was that about?" I ask.

"Sorry, but I have to do this now." He says.

"Do what Blake?" I ask, and a few moments later, I get my answer.

"Lia, I love you. I love you so much."

"I love you too." I say. "Blake, what is this about?" I ask, confused.

"Lia, you bring out the best parts of me, and you make me feel alive. You complete me Lia, and I can't think of a life without you. I want to spend every minute I have left with you." Oh...my...god. He gets down on one knee, and pulls his hand out of his pocket, revealing the most beautiful diamond ring ever. I stare at him in shock. This can't be happening! Blake smiles. "Liara Gwenyth Strand, will you make me the happiest man alive, and marry me?" Blake asks.

I open my mouth, but just then, the alarms go off.

"Shit." Blake curses. He quickly stands up and takes my hand. "Keep it safely with you, and let me know when we get back." he says, pressing the ring into my palm. With a last smile, he runs out. It takes me a couple moments to recover, but I run after him.

"Help! Help! Please, help!" a man comes running to us the moment the trucks come to a stop.

"Sir, come with me, you need to get checked out by the medics." Trav says.

"Get your hands off me!" the man shouts, shoving Trav.

"Get your hands off me, sir." Trav tells him calmly.

"Hey, hey." Cap walks over to them.

"My kids are in there." The man says, walking to the rubble.

The entire house collapsed in the Earthquake. The man had crawled out by some god's grace, but the kids are stuck in there.

"It's okay, it's okay." Cap says. "Sir, I need you to be calm so you can help us. What's your name?"
