Chloe POV
Fucking weasel. I love Rachel. I know I do, that's a definite. However, I love Percy too and it's been way longer since I saw him. You can't blame me if I wanna spend some alone time with him. So when Rachel managed to convince Percy and her parents to let her come too, I was upset. It wasn't that bad, but sheesh. Where is she going to stay? Right, she's rich. She can just stay in a hotel. Still, I kinda wished it was just me and Percy. Oh, well. Can't have everything I want I guess.
"Uh, Chloe?" I turned around and saw Percy looking at me. "You done packing?" He asked. I looked back to my mess of a bed and chuckled nervously. "Sorry." He sighed and shook his head. "We're leaving in an hour so let me help." He said and walked over. He bent over and started picking out clothes that he knew I'd wear and putting them in my bag. Damn. Has his ass always looked that good? It's oddly cute. Before I could stop myself, my hand lashed out and slapped it. Percy shot up and spun around to glare at me. Despite not meaning to actually do it, I laughed.
"Oh, that's funny?" He asked. He nodded and dropped the shirt he was holding. He then reached and grabbed my nipple through my shirt. Why the hell did I decide to not wear a bra? With a twist I was hunched over and groaning in pain. "Finish packing on your own." He said and I heard him walking away. Unfortunately, he stopped and delivered a hard slap to my ass that had me shoot up straight. "Ha!" He yelled and ran out the room. "Dick." I muttered and went back to packing my bags.
Downstairs
Third POV"What's with the smirk?" Rachel asked Percy. "It's nothing." He said with a shrug. "Sheesh, is she even coming?" Percy nodded. "She just had a slow moment while packing." Percy said causing Rachel to snort. "Naturally." The brunette sighed. Chloe then came down the stairs with a blush on her face. "Hey, sorry I took so long." She said. "Yea, right. Come on. You're driving, remember." Rachel said. "I know, I know." After Chloe made sure the doors and windows were locked she climbed into the truck and they were off.
The only noise in the truck was the music coming from the radio. Percy had been oddly quiet and it was affecting the moods of the girls as well. Finally, Rachel got tired of being bummed and looked over at Percy.
"What's up with you?" She asked. "Hm?" Percy looked at her, confusion on his face. "You're bummer mood is bumming us out too. Whats going on? Did you not want us to come with you?" Percy shook his head. "No, no. It's not that. I just try not to mix my New Yorker life with my Arcadia Bay life." He replied. "Is it because of your dad's side of the family?" He nodded. Percy couldn't just tell them that he was half god and being near him was dangerous.
"We can take care of ourselves Percy. We'll be fine." Chloe tried to reassure him. "I know, I know. They can just be... a bit too difficult at times." He said. "Honestly, it's best that we don't interact with most of them." He said. "I get that. David's terrible." Chloe said. "At least he cares. I mean, yea. He's horrible at showing it, but he does care. My family doesn't really care about any of us. To most of them, we're just child soldiers that need to be called on."
"Damn. How do you deal with that?" Percy shrugged. "Not much of a choice to be fair. It's complicated. Hard to explain to people who isn't... 'in the know'." He explained. "Let's just not talk about." The girls obliged. Joyce had given them money for gas and snacks so after a few hours of driving they stopped at a gas station. Percy got out to call his mom at a nearby payphone.
"Hello?" He heard Sally's voice. "Hey mom. It's me." Percy said, making Sally smile. Though, he couldn't see it. "Are you on you're way home?" She asked. "Yea. Although, I'm dragging some extra luggage with me." He said. "Really? Souvenirs?" Sally guessed. "Uhh. Not really. Chloe decided that she wanted see you." He said. "In person." Percy finished. Sally blinked. "Oh. That's great! It's been so long since I've seen her!" Sally gushed.
"Yea, it's great. However, two problems." Percy said. "You shouldn't have to worry about monsters Percy. They barely attack as it is and I'm sure the gods won't bother you too much." Sally said. "One problem." Percy rephrased. "That being?" Sally asked. "A friend of Chloe's. Her names Rachel and she's coming along." He said. "Oh. That's ok." Percy made an 'eh' sound. "Are you sure?" He asked. "Percy. It'll be ok. Just relax, take a breath. Ok?" He did so.
"Alright. I'll see you later mom." He said. They said bye and Percy hung up. "Hopefully they're done getting gad by now." He mumbled to himself. Percy jogged back to the gas station in time to see Rachel and Chloe coming out with arms full of snacks. "Hey guys. Just talked to my mom. She knows we're on our way." He said. "Cool. We've stocked up on snacks so we're ready to go." Chloe said. "Nice, let's go."
Pretty soon, they were on the road once more. Lucky for them to. As they drove out of sight, two men approached the gas station. They were tall and bulky with bald heads, dark skin and small beady eyes. They stepped up to the payphone and inspected it. One of them even sniffed it.
"Smell that?" One of them asked. "Free sea food?" The other asked with a smile. The first smiled back. "You know it." He laughed and started walking in that direction that Percy and the girls drove off.
