Chapter 10 – Change

Together with Nappa, Vegeta walked over the courtyard back towards the wing of the palace where their sleeping quarters were. "Hey men wait" and men's voice called to them. When they turned around they saw Raditz casually approaching. Nappa made himself big "where have you been?" Raditz gave him a satisfied look "I was doing my job, traps had to be set for the rebels". Nappa wanted to say something but was stopped by Vegeta.

The prince walked away "well done Raditz, now we go to our quarters. It is a full moon tonight, and without a target we will stay indoors". His men walked silently behind him. On the way, the Saiyans passed a quarreling Captain Vino and her lieutenant. Vegeta observed her as she stood against a wall, momentarily unsure whether to interfere. But her furious look gazing at him told him it was not a good idea.

The group walked on, Vegeta still hearing a small bit of the bickering between the Waino's. He heard Vino say "it's too late now for me to go to the doctor, stupid". And he heard the lieutenant growl "fine it's your body, I'm not going to sit with you all night again when you're getting sick". A few steps further and he couldn't hear them anymore. Although he shouldn't care what they were fighting about, something inside him told him to walk back. He ignored his feeling.

As they walked on, Nappa snorted in displeasure "I hate that girl, and her humor is not funny either." Vegeta knew right away what he was talking about and did his best not to burst out in to laughter. Raditz looked aside in surprise "what happened then?" Nappa didn't want to say anything, Vegeta was only too happy to share the story about the prostitute. The two younger Saiyans were clearly having fun over the humiliation of the older bald Saiyan. But suddenly he said "I'll see her again tomorrow". The young men looked at each other in disbelief.

The night quickly fell, Vegeta lay on his bed and couldn't sleep. Full moons always kept him awake anyway. Groaning he sat up straight, he grabbed some water and drank the glass empty in one gulp. As he wiped his mouth dry he heard sirens going off inside the castle. Not that he was a soldier but like any other Saiyan he was drawn in with the hope of fighting. In the hallway a soldier ran "attack; there is an attack next to the village!"

Along with the other two Saiyans, Vegeta ran toward the tower that looked over the village. Arriving he saw the lieutenant standing there alone "where is your captain?" asked Vegeta irritated. "I'm here" sounded a trembling voice from the shadows. Vegeta felt the moonlight do its work. He snapped his neck loose for a moment "come men, we are going to have fun". Then he heard screaming behind him, Nappa had the captain by the arm "what's the matter little girl, scared of the big bad apes?"

Full of horror and fear, she looked straight at Vegeta, but Vegeta had to get out of the tower fast. He turned around and before he could jump out of the tower he felt a small body rush past him. "Jerk, she's not allowed in the moonlight!" the lieutenant shouted out to Nappa who had just thrown her outside. Vegeta jumped after her, she rolled on the ground and stood up. Vegeta came to stand in front of her, but her eyes were staring blankly at the moon.

Quickly Vegeta felt the raw power through his body and he transformed into Oorzaru. Meanwhile, the other two Saiyan had also started changing and Vegeta pointed to the village "let's hunt rebels". But then they heard another growl behind them. "What the hell" cried Vegeta as he looked at a light colored Oorzaru "Vino?" he stammered.

But she heard nothing and next to Vegeta suddenly flew the lieutenant "Vegeta, she has never changed before. She shouldn't have gotten into the moonlight". Vegeta looked annoyed and wanted to swat the lieutenant away like an irritating fly. "Shit!" cried Vegeta. Vino walked around uncontrollably and fired a ki shot from her mouth.
