"jack?" cinnia said in surprise as she placed her phone to her ear.
"cins... how are ya?" jack asked on the other end of the line."i'm alright... how are you?" cinnia asked him, trying to piece together, in her mind, exactly why jack would be on the phone with her right now.
especially considering the fact that he gave her a call, not the other way around."i'm good yeah," said jack, "i've just called to tell you something. i feel that it's only fair on you if i let you know my reasoning for ending things between us. i hope this is a good time to chat."
"yeah... yeah it's alright, go ahead," cinnia replied in disbelief.
jack silently let out a sigh, preparing himself for the next few minutes ahead of him.
he's been pondering over this moment for the past few days and he hasn't been able to come up with an easy way of putting this or letting cinnia know the truth.
the only thing that's been holding him back from telling her how it is, is far deeper than anyone would think.
although from the outside, many would have perceived their relationship as one-sided for the most part. it's always appeared as if cinnia is far more into jack than he was ever into her.
jack, himself, can't confirm or deny. but he's certain that he cared about the girl. he still does. and to be at the root of all of her pain gives him pain as well.
he wants nothing more than to ease the heaviness in her heart and hopefully cut ties with her for good.not because he doesn't want anything to do with cinnia, but because he knows she deserves far better than anything he could ever give her.
"basically..." jack began, "you know who i'm with at the moment of course, yeah?"
"yeah..." cinnia replied, acknowledging his new girlfriend, faye."well... this one night. that time we were at the club together- you and me, remember that?"
"yeah, i remember,"
"well, basically, faye and me were on our way to the bathroom and we just passed each other. i bumped into her actually and apologised of course and we kind of just started flirting with each other,""...okay,"
"a few days go by and she messages me on instagram. i respond of course because she intrigued me a lot on that night. we got to know each other for a bit... we had met up that same night and spent the night together-"
"while we were still together?" cinnia asked, interrupting his speech."yes... while we were still together. we met up a few more times after that as well... we just got on like a house on fire, cins, it was nothing that i had ever felt before. with anybody," jack explained.
cinnia felt the small pieces of her heart left in her chest, cracking further and further with every word that left jack's mouth.
"i didn't want to string you along with me anymore because... there's no easy way to put this,"
"just say it, jack,"
"...i knew she was the one i wanted. between the two of you - i knew i wanted faye. and being with you of course was kind of getting in the way of that as well," said jack, "no disrespect to you, of course. i still care about you a lot."
"is that it?"
"there is one more thing," jack mentioned, "i think it's only right if i tell you because... it did happen when... when we were-"
"still together?"
"yeah..." jack sighed."what is it?" cinnia asked, wiping a few stray tears that had slipped from her eyes.
"oh my gosh, cins," jack sighed, "i'm so sorry."
"just tell me, jack,""she's pregnant, cinnia. we're pregnant, we're having. a baby," jack blurted out.
cinnia's hand immediately rose to cover her mouth in shock. she fell completely silent over the line, raising alarm on jack's end.
"...cin? still there?"
cinnia couldn't even bring herself to give him a reply. the best response she could think of was pressing the big red button at the bottom of the screen. that was exactly what she did.
she threw her head in her hands before giving herself away to her emotions. she can no longer bare the pain that constantly pierces her chest.
never in her life did she ever think the person she loves so dearly would cause her so much trouble.
especially not jack.she hasn't even fully processed anything that he said. all she knows is that it's nothing good.
