"Alex, you're on in two minutes."
Alex stood panting with anxiety. It had been so long since he had performed in front of people, he almost forgot how to do it. Stage fright took over and he could feel his body slowly collapsing in on himself. That's when he felt a hand on his shoulder. A firm yet gentle grip. "Hey Jack." Alex managed, through shaky and uneasy breaths. Jack walked around to face Alex head on and wrapped him in a hug.
"Count to ten." Jack whispered as he started rubbing Alex's back in a soothing vertical motion. Alex felt his breathing even out as he breathed out every number in a shaky tone.
"Five... Six... Seven..." Alex continued. He smiled softly to himself as he finished the last three numbers and collapsed in jack's arms. "Jesus Christ, it's been a while." He murmured.
"Seems to be a running theme at the moment." Jack sighed as he looped his arms around Alex and hoisted him up into a more appropriate standing position. "But it's going to be okay. Let's get out there, and make some fans scream!" He encouraged the smaller brunette. The lead singer sighed once more and corrected himself. Pulling away from jack and smoothing out his plain white jeans.
"How'd I look?"
"Sexy." Jack placed a small kiss on the top of Alex's head. So small in fact that Alex had to question whether it was a kiss at all. "Go get em." He smiled reassuringly as Alex heaved his guitar over his shoulder and trundled up towards the vast expanse of hands and people waiting. Alex took one more glance behind him to see jack wandering leisurely directly next to him. They walked onto stage together.
"Good evening Vegas!" Alex screamed down his mic as fans ahead of them raised palms to the air and began to jump. The wave like sounds of thousand upon thousands of voices was overwhelming, threatening to knock Alex off of his feet, but he kept them firm to the ground. He shot jack a look to his left, who in turn, gave him a thumbs up. "Are you ready to rock?!" Alex formed the devil's horn symbol with his hands as the other members did the same, thrusting their fists and fingers into the sky. "This song-" Alex started turning to jack for one more boost of confidence. "This song is called If these sheets were states." Alex let his guitar drop on the strap and held the mic closer to his face before singing into the speaker. "I'm lost in empty pillow talk again." Jack began his little riff on the guitar and as soon as Rian came in with the drums everyone was jumping around. People in the crowd, people on the stage, people on the moon, it was that joyous and harmonious. Everyone was having fun, even Alex at this point. He forgot all about his worries and his woes, everything was fine and nothing mattered. At least not for the time being.

"You see, Alex here is a maniac." Jack started during the break of their show. They had played the first half of their set and now were waiting for the little break in between to carry on for the second half. Alex took a swig of water as he allowed jack to continue his little speech that he made at every show. They were all different, and each were just as entertaining. At least, they were for Alex. "Alex is a fucking maniac dudes, like seriously, it was just last night that he was wasted, driving at ninety down the highway."
"Oh yeah, I was fucking hammered." Alex chimed, grinning slightly as they both knew exactly what had happened during the previous day's events. The crowd went wild at that. Little did they know, that jack and Alex practically spent half the day sleeping and throwing up (on jack's half). It was fun in retrospect, just maybe not at the time.
"Alex is a party animal when he wants to be. A sexy beast." The crowd went wild again as Alex laughed into the mic at jack's remark. He was definitely getting cockier, that was for sure. Alex was beginning to wonder whether he would have to intervene and cut jack's rants short. Alex took another sip of water and kept his eyes trained to the crowd. "That's why Alex Gaskarth, I was hoping, you would riddle me this." Jack said a little more seriously. The crowd fell silent as did Alex's heartbeats, before they started up again, at a faster and heavier pace. "we've been friends for years and when I need you, you're all ears. We've had some fun and some glum, but you mean the world to me Hun. So what'd you say? Marry me anyway?" Alex's heart skipped a beat. His head full of thoughts. Jack bent down on one knee, swinging his guitar behind him to keep it out the way. The crowd hadn't yet started screaming, making Alex question whether this really wasn't a joke. He knew that jack's words were raw, jack never created anything poetic unless he really had to. For obvious reasons and the fact he was just crap at it. But this wasn't like jack.
