Chapter 21 - Compromise

*Venable's POV*

Both of us were still sleeping in each other's embrace, when this household's artificial intelligence Alexa turns the night into the day due to her scheduled wake up time. The commanded blinds start rolling upwards, allowing in the spring sun that was waiting for permission to breach at full power. Still holding my eyes closed, I feel y/n's lips caressing my naked skin. I smile as I slowly open my eyes.

"This I could get used to..." I say, referring to her greeting manner.

"Please do..." She says, spending a few more minutes cuddling me before officially starting the day.

"Y/n?" I try to get her attention while she is still busy spreading kisses all over my neck and shoulders.

"Hmm?" she answers without stopping her actions.

"So... What happened yesterday? You didn't seem in the best of moods when you arrived from the meeting... You mentioned Eliot, if I remember correctly... " I say, hoping to get a smooth start into this conversation, trying to address the elephant in the room neither of us wanted to. She sighs before answering.

"Well... it seems like we were right..." she starts, "Eliot must be the traitor... The CEO of 'RobotsRus' had information he shouldn't have had, thankfully most of it was the wrong one we fed him... but he refused to tell me where he got it from... Of course I knew, but I couldn't let him know that... He just said 'I have my sources'... I hate that guy," she tries to sum it up, "in general it was a very unpleasant meeting."

"What are you planning now? We are going to fire that traiting asshole, aren't we?" I ask.

"He's going to be lucky if I fire him... I'm going to fucking kill that motherfucker..." she says and I sense her anger. I wrap my arms around her and kiss her frowned forehead.

"I may have a better idea, honey..." I say mysteriously so she pulls away to look in my eyes. I grin at her and arch my brow, enjoying the thoughts that flow into my brain.

"What are you planning in that brilliant head of yours?" she says and smiles lovingly.

"You remember that robotics fair next month?" I start to explain.

"Yes... even though I don't like to think about the fact that I am going to be away from you for 3 whole days..." she actually sounds sad which makes my insides flutter. God, I love her too...

"Me neither, but you have to go," I say, trying to sound strong, "you are going to present our newest technology. To be able to patent it there, before any other company does, would be one of the most important steps for this company."

"Yes, I know... No need to remind me, I am already super nervous about it," she says insecurely. I understand why she is nervous. It's the most important thing she will do since she became CEO. But I know she will make it just perfect...

"I don't think I know what this will have to do with Eliot, I'm afraid," she tears me out of my thoughts.

"Well, you are to have a meeting with him tomorrow to make preparations for the fair... But if you let him know that you are not going because the technology revealed massive flaws in the latest experimental tests, he'll have no other choice but to communicate that to them..."

"But there were no failed tests in the..." she starts not understanding my point, "Ohhhhh...." she finally gets it, "That's genius...If they think our technology is faulty, they won't have something to copy..."

"And if they don't have something that they can copy, they won't have anything to present at the fair," I continue.

"Which results in them not going there at all... That would solve all of our problems," she smiles brightly, "you do have the best ideas..."
