Chapter 23 - Apology Dinner

*Y/N's POV*

I am sitting at my desk in my office, looking out of the window, letting my brain relax for the first time this day. We had a really stressful day with a bunch of appointments and even more phone calls. Just when I am thinking about my plans for the evening with Mina, I hear my assistan's phone ring again.

"Urgh," I let out an annoyed sigh. This is probably the 99th call today...

Because the door to Wilhemina's office is open I can hear her answer the phone, "Kinero's robotics, y/l/n's office, Ms. Venable speaking," her dominant voice sounds through the room. I am listening closely, trying to find out who it could possibly be, due to Mina's words. I am surprised when she immediately loses her office voice.

"Hey," she says in the most friendly tone, "yes I am good. Very good in fact, thank you for asking..."

Everything is silent when the caller is speaking, which I obviously can't hear.

"Oh yeah sure, she is available... no problem, it was nice talking to you," Mina says before pressing the button that puts the caller through to my phone.

"Who is it?" I shout, trying to oversound the ringing phone.

"It's Jordan," she explains shortly. Oh, so Jordan is the one who is able to turn the purple office dragon into a cuddly puppy, I understand... I smile to myself before picking up the phone.

"Jordan!" I greet her excitedly.

"Y/n!" she greets back.

"It's so nice that you've called... I wanted to text you so many times, but work has been crazy..." I try to apologize. Truth is I always had trouble keeping my friends updated...

"It's ok honey, I know you are working hard..." she says in an understanding tone.

"So?" I try to change the topic, "How is life? Especially dating life? Have you been out with Alicia again? Me and her have avoided the dating topic ever since what happened, but she seemed happier than usual..."

*Venable's POV*

I try to be quiet and listen to the conversation. I know it's not right, but the second she mentioned Alicia I couldn't help but be curious. Just when it was about to be interesting the phone rings again. You can't be serious... not now...

Before I pick up and do my job, I stand up and walk towards the door that separates my office from hers. I close the pretty much soundproof door, so that she won't get disturbed by me answering calls, like the good assistant I am. Damnit, I for sure won't find out what this call is about until she decides to tell me... My fear of missing out takes over.

Back on my desk I pick up the phone with an annoyed tone, rolling my eyes, "Kinero's robotics, y/l/n's office, Ms. Venable speaking."

*Y/N's POV*

As Wilhemina's phone rings again and she closes the door, I grin to myself. I know exactly how much she'd like to listen to my conversation with Jordan. Too bad baby, now you'll have to trust me and keep your curiosity under control...

"Yes, I've been out with Alicia again," Jordan tears me out of my thoughts as she answers my question, "she is great. We have a lot of fun and she really gets me, you know?"

"Yeah, I know what you mean," I say dreamily, referring to Mina and my relationship.

"So we've been out a couple of times and after the 4th date or so, she asked me to be her girlfriend," she beams with joy.

"Judging from the pitch of your voice, I don't need to ask what you answered," I say teasingly.

"I said yes, of coursee," she squeals.
