Meredith was completely in love with her little nephew who was currently sleeping in her arms. Both Lexie and Mark were currently sleeping, both exhausted from the long night they had just had.
"Hey." Meredith looked up when she heard Derek whisper softly from the door. "Are they still sleeping?"
"Yeah." Meredith tilted her head towards the free spot next to her and waited for him to come and sit with her. "He is so gorgeous, I can't stop staring at him." Meredith said in awe as she ran her finger over the baby's soft cheek.
"He really is." Derek smiled down before wrapping his arm around Meredith's shoulder. "I brought us all some food and coffee."
"Thank you." Meredith smiled at her before the baby started to whimper slightly in her arms. "Shh, it's ok auntie Mer is here." She bounced the baby in her arms lovingly.
"It's ok, he is probably hungry." Lexies tired voice came from the bed as her eyes opened slowly.
"It's time to go to mommy now." Meredith spoke softly to the baby as she stood up and walked over to place him Lexies arms. "We will go for a walk and come back later, congratulations Lex, he's gorgeous." She leaned down and kissed the top of Lexies head.
"Congratulations Lex." Derek was now standing next to Meredith as he leaned down and kissed Lexie on the top of the head as well before taking Meredith's hands in his.
Meredith and Derek walked out of Lexies room with their hands intertwined as Meredith yawned.
"Tired?" Derek laughed slightly before yawning himself.
"Hmm." She nodded before allowing her head to rest on his shoulder. "Come on, let's go to my office and we can pull out the sofa bed, sleep." Meredith smiled tiredly.
Derek didn't protest as he allowed the exhaustion to wash over his body as he followed Meredith the short distance to her office. Together they set up the bed before Meredith slipped off her shoes and immediately collapsed down onto it.
"Do you want me to lock the door?" Derek asked as Meredith simply hummed before cuddling into her pillow further. He laughed to himself before moving to look the door before joining Meredith on the make shift bed.
As soon as he lay down, Meredith moved and placed her head on his chest before light snores began to echo around the room. To some people, the snoring would be annoying but to Derek it brought him comfort because it meant that he had Meredith in his arms. It didn't take long before sleep completely consumed his body and he fell asleep himself.
They woke a while later to a consistent knocking coming from Meredith's door.
"Tell them to go away." Meredith groaned as she buried her face in Derek's neck.
"This is your office Mer." Derek laughed as one hand went up to rub the sleep out of his eye and the other ran up and down Meredith's back.
"I hate my job." Meredith sat up and headed for the door, pulling open to come face to face with one of the interns.
"Sorry to disturb you Dr Grey but I was just wondering if I could scrub in on your surgery tomorrow." The bright eyed intern looked at Meredith with hope in their eyes.
"Seriously." Meredith crossed her arms over her chest. "Not only are you disturbing me on my day off but you've also woke me up to ask if you can scrub in on my surgery? No, you can't. Now get down to the pit where there are patients waiting to be seen!" Meredith's voice began to rise.
The intern didn't move and continued to stare at Meredith, only furthering her anger.
"What are you doing still standing here! Move!" Meredith shouted finally causing the intern to turn and all but run away before Meredith slammed her door and turned to face Derek.
"Wow."
"What?" Meredith asked Derek confused.
"The authoritative tone, very sexy." Derek winked at her causing Meredith to laugh and shaking her head before she walked back over to him and straddle his lap.
"I mean seriously, shout at me like that in the bedroom." Derek laughed as Meredith playfully shoved his shoulders before looping her arms around his neck.
"Stop." Meredith smiled at him as she reached up and ran her hand across his cheek before moving to run through his hair. "We should go away, for a long weekend somewhere."
"Yeah?" Derek asked as Meredith nodded her head with a smile on her face. "That sounds like an amazing idea, I'll have a look at some places, get something booked." He reached up to push the hair out of her face.
"Good." She leaned down to kiss him quick before all but jumping off his lap. "Now come on, let's go see Lexie and Mark then head home. I want a bath, some food and then my bed." She said as she slipped her shoes on.
"Is there an invitation in there for me?" Derek asked as he slipped his own shoes on before standing up.
"I just presumed you was coming home with me anyways." Meredith shrugged as she allowed her hands to move round and rest on his hips, giving them a little squeeze.
"Good." He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. "Now let's go." He took his hand in hers as they walked out of her office and back towards Lexies room.
"Hey, is alright for us to come in?" Meredith asked as she slipped her head round the door and found Lexie sitting up in her bed with the baby in her arms and Mark now awake.
"Yeah come in. We have something to tell you both anyways." Lexie said softly as Meredith and Derek walked in.
"We just came to say goodbye." Meredith let go of Derek's hand and moved to stand next to Lexie to get a better look at the baby.
"Mark tell them."
"Right." Mark clapped his hands. "We would to formally introduce you to Noah Christopher Sloan." Mark smiled proudly.
"After dad." Derek whispered as he smiled softly.
"After dad." Mark repeated.
"It's perfect." Meredith said as she cooed at the baby before reaching to squeeze Lexies shoulder.
"Perfect." Derek repeated to himself as he stood back and watched his family.
His life really was perfect.
