The days seemed to past by so slowly for Meredith, she wasn't even aware of what day it was anymore. Everyday was the same, she would wake up, do some jobs round the house, eat and then go to bed. She was going insane.
But today, today was different. Today they had their first appointment and would hopefully get to hear their baby's heartbeat. When she woke up, she rolled over and her hands reached out for Derek but was met with an empty and cold bed. Sitting up, she frowned to herself and reached out for the note that he had left on his pillow.
'I've just gone to grab us some breakfast, I'll be back soon, don't worry I didn't forget about our appointment! Love you, Derek x'
Smiling down at the note, she turned and placed it in her bedside draw before pushing herself up and heading into the bathroom. Reaching in she turned the shower on and waited for it to warm up as she took off her pyjamas. Turning to the side, she smiled at the small curve at the bottom of her stomach. To anybody else, it wouldn't be noticeable but Meredith knew her body and she was picking up on the changes.
Deciding not to waste anymore time, Meredith climbed into the shower and let warm water envelope her body, as she rubbed her lavender body wash all over her as she took her time and relaxed.
Meanwhile, Derek walked back into the house, shivering as the cold air hit him once more before he stepped into the warm house. He immediately heard the shower running, which he knew Meredith had finally got herself out of bed. Smiling to himself, he headed into the kitchen and began placing their breakfast out of them.
The past few days had been extremely difficult for Meredith, after being suspended and over investigation for something that was out of her control, she had become a shell of herself. So he was doing anything and everything he could to put a smile on her face.
Grabbing a couple of glasses, he poured two glasses of orange juice and cup of coffee for himself before moving to place the food onto the table.
"Hey, you're back." Meredith said softly from the doorway.
"Hey." He twirled on his heels to face her. "I didn't hear you come down, do you feel better?"
"Hmm, guess so." Meredith shrugged as she wrapped his arms around his waist and placed her head on his chest, breathing him in.
"That's good." He leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "I brought you breakfast, all your favourites. Pancakes and bacon, also a bagel with cream cheese and that fruit salad bowl thing you like." He smiled down at her as she turned to look up at him.
"Thank you." She leaned up and brushed her lips against his.
"Come on let's eat before we have to leave." He said excitedly as he guided her to his chair and let her sit down before pushing her chair in and then going to sit down himself.
"I forgot to tell you." Meredith started off before shovelling some pancake into her mouth. "Mark knows."
"Mark knows what?" Derek asked as he watched Meredith nod her head down towards her stomach. "Oh, he knows your pregnant. Did you tell him?"
"No." She shook her head and swallowed the food in her mouth before carrying on. "He bumped into me up on the OB floor, after booking our appointment. He kind of guessed but I told him not to say anything, which I guess he hasn't as Lexie hasn't said anything to me."
"I guess that's alright, I mean I'm glad there will be some looking out for you at work now..." Derek stopped himself when he realised what he had said.
"No it's fine." Meredith shook her head but Derek could tell from the look on her face that it was far from fine. "I mean that isn't going to be a problem now, or maybe ever again. You know what I'm not that hungry now..." Meredith pushed herself out from the table and headed upstairs.
