After the talk about the kids with Harvey, I suddenly miss them. More than ever since I moved here months ago. I took a shower and decided to call Jiana to check on her and the kids.
Calling Jiana....
" Hello?"
"Jiana~!" I called her name with a singsong voice.
"Tsh, I don't know you." she said, and I laughed because I know why she's acting like this.
"Sorry okay? I've been busy these days and things unexpectedly came up one after another." I truthfully said.
" Are you okay?" she asked, she probably understood some of what I just told her.
"Well, I'm doing good. I'm adjusting well in the environment."
" That's good. How about the people? Do you already have friends?"
" The people here are good. And well, I guess you could say that."
" What do you mean? Don't tell me , you still think "I don't want to get close, I'm leaving them anyways" do you?" she said mimicking my voice. I laughed as she hit the spot.
"You know, people don't easily change my dearest friend." I laughed, while she fell silent.
" They don't know?" she asked in between her silence.
"It's better if they won't know." she sighed at my remark.
" Still as hard headed as always." After a sigh, she said.
" And you're still as understanding as always." I smiled.
" Anyways enough of me, how are you? The kids?"
"I'm good, a bit stressed out because of some projects and requirements." she sounded so stressed out that I almost laughed, I can imagine her face while saying those words right now.
" Right, the first semester is about to end."
"Yeah, If I have known architecture would be so stressful I would have chosen being a teacher instead!" she ranted.
" Haha, I bet that temper of yours can help you be a teacher. " I grinned, even though she won't see me. Jiana is a bit impatient when it comes to kids, I remembered when we were distributing food but the kids haven't settled down and keeps running around, crying or making noises. I remembered her trying to have them settled but she couldn't do it that she almost screamed and cry in front of us. I remembered her saying to me "I don't like kids. They're mean" while pouting.
"Eiih ! Making a house plan is much harder than teaching a kid." I bet she's pouting right now.
"Yeah, but a kid can make you cry much harder than making those sketches haha!"
" Fine, fine fine you win. Anyways, speaking of a kid. The kids miss you, specially Hope."
" I miss those guys too, and you too. I'll surely visit when it's winter break here."
" Oh right! How are your studies? Isn't hard to adjust? I'm sure you're the eldest student there haha!"
" They're good and I'm actually getting the hang of it. And I don't think so, looks like everyone else is just around the same age as me."
Back in the Philippines, this year, supposedly, I would be in my second year in college, majoring in Interior Design. While Jania same year level as me, is taking up Architecture. I don't know why but when I came here, the school where I would supposedly continue my college, sent me here– to an International HIGH SCHOOL! They told me that I need to learn about speaking Japanese, learn their histories and stuffs– I didn't really paid attention.
All I understood was that – I'm going to study all over again and waste another 2 years in highschool instead of studying in college.
" Really? Maybe they really send students back to highschool haha."
"Hey, it's not funny. I should be studying interior design and get a job two years later but look where I am now, huff." I ranted.
" You wanted to be with your Mom right? Suffer the consequences! haha"
" You're so mean. For an adult like you, you should be thinking of working hard to get a decent job not trying to be funny" I rolled my eyes.
" Ha! Look who's talking!" silence..then we laughed.
" For an adult like us, we should be thinking like one, not arguing about petty stuffs." she said while laughing in between.
" Right. But I'm not yet an adult thought" I corrected her.
" You're still old" she argued.
" But you're still older." smirking, I said.
" Hey! I'm just two years older! It's not like I'm an oldie! And you should respect me! I'm older than you!"
" You're just two year older you said, it's not like we're hundred years apart" I smiled wickedly.
" Aish! I don't know! You're making me nuts! You should just come back here!"
"What nut are you? A nuts as in the squirrels eat? Nuts as in bolts? or Nuts as in nuts?" I said while trying to suppress my laugh. I know she's frustrated at me right now haha. I bet she would pull my hair if she's here with me.
"You know what. I changed my mind. You shouldn't come back here. I would pull all your hair off if I see you!" She said and I just laughed.
"Haha! I knew it! Still the same Jiana! I missed seeing your annoyed face though, I wish I could see that right now haha"
"Tsh, whatever!"
"Haha, anyways. Have you visited the kids?"
"Yeah, I did yesterday. I'm going to visit them again this weekend too. Why?"
"Can you tell them that I miss them? I couldn't reach Miss Lulu's phone."
"Oh, right. Miss Lulu went out for a vacation in their province. They don't have any wifi or signal service there so you can't contact her."
" Ah, I thought something happened. Anyways it's already late. You should sleep, see you soon jia~!"
"Yeah, bye! See you soonest Sua~!" then she ended the call.
I laid on my bed and stared at my phone. I sighed, I miss everything and everyone I left there. I got up and went down to the kitchen to drink some water. I saw Mommy talking to someone over the phone, lights are off while drinking red wine.
They seemed to be on a deep conversation, Mom saw me approaching so I smiled and went to the fridge and get some water.
After I drank water, Mom ended the call and went to the sink beside me to place the glass she used.
"Why are you still up?" she asked.
"Had a talk with Jia" I smiled. "How about you? Business?" I asked.
"Yes, I couldn't sleep and went here for a drink when my secretary called and asked a few questions regarding some papers" she said and I nodded.
"You should sleep. Let's talk more tomorrow, it's already late."
" You should too Mom. Don't get too stressed and get some rest. We should actually go to a hot spring sometime!"
" Right, we haven't had a bonding for quite a while. But for now, let's sleep". We walked together upstairs and parted ways to go to our rooms to sleep.
" Here's your milk baby. Remember to drink it all up so you'll grow and be a big girl" I heard a familiar voice before I fell asleep and wander into the dream land.
