Weeks have passed since the first day of class, and Hawk's relationship with his team has improved significantly. As usual, he acts rather serious during the school day, radiating an aura of focus and power. But in the more quiet moments of the day, he acts almost cheerful when it is just him and his team. He participates in Nora's childish antics, and he tells Ren all about his time with the Branwen clan and all he learned. But Hawk's relationship with Pyrrha has gone further as well. He sees her as a sort of confidant. Hawk has also begun to open up to his half-sister, Yang, and her team, team RWBY. While he and Weiss had some difficulty trusting one another, they eventually found common ground in their academic studies.
As both team RWBY and team HVRN eat breakfast after another grueling endeavor in Professor Port's class. Nora regales her story, or rather dream, of her and Ren defeating a pack of Beowolfs and selling their furs.
Nora: "And after we sold the furs, we used our vast riches to rule the lands like kings and queens. Hahaha!"
Blake: "While the story was rather..interesting. I'm pretty certain you can't collect furs from Grimm."
Nora: "Pah! You just haven't tried it yet."
Yang: "Besides! That story was like a dream anyway. I'm certain Hawk's got some awesome stories that could blow that one outta the water."
Hawk: "Now, while my stories may not be as "fantastical" as Nora's, they do provide the adventurous spirit never to be forgotten."
Ruby: "Oh! Oh! Now I'm all excited! Come on, tell it."
Pyrrha: "I am rather enticed to hear a story you haven't told us yet."
Weiss: "Well, if you dolts keep pestering him, he'll never tell it." The others become silent. "You may begin, Hawk."
Hawk: "Much appreciated, Weiss. Now, where should I begin?"
Hawk would tell them of a time he was out on patrol and came across a man who could summon creatures to fight on his behalf. He told how he assisted the man with finding a "doorway", as the man called it. The trip would take them several days and have them traversing across the Mistral kingdom, each day, he would find out more and more about the mysterious man. Like how his familiars acted independently, one being a feline-like creature that could morph its body into many different weapons. Another was a large crystal that could control a substance to form into a golem of massive size and by far the most troublesome of the creatures, a bird that could shoot lightning and speak, much more than needed. Hawk explained how the man's name was simply, V, and V explained how he was searching for a new purpose after being cast out of his old life. Eventually, they found his so-called "doorway", a large blue portal that led to somewhere V would not tell of. Finally, as a reward for his troubles, Hawk received guidance on how his demonic power would eventually become a permanent part of him and bind with his blood making him more than human. Hawk was obviously not telling the group about that last part, but they were still enthralled by the story nonetheless.
Ren: "Now, that was a good story." Blake nodded her head in agreement.
Yang: "Wait? So where is V now?"
Hawk: "Don't know. After V and his familiars entered, the portal is closed, and it hasn't opened since."
Pyrrha: "Well, I must admit it was a rather good story."
Ruby: "Yeah! It made me feel like I was on an adventure across a vast land."
Weiss: "I do believe we have time for another story. If you don't mind, Hawk?"
