-kidney stone
-solid masses made of crystals
-painful medical conditions

RF:
•Infection
•Immobility
•Dehydration
•⬆ uric acid
•⬆ urinary oxalate
•urinary stasis and retention

S/Sx
◾⬆ incidence in men
◾nausea and vomiting
◾urinary frequency
◾dysuria
◾hematuria (maybe intermittent depending on stone movement)
◾sharp, sudden, severe pain
◾agonizing flank pain radiating to
       -groin
       -testicle
       -abdominal area

Dx:
▪Ultrasound
▪IVP
▪Renal Stone Analysis
▪KUB (XRay)

Mgt:
-increase fluid intake
-ambulation
-monitor total urine output and patterns of voiding
- strain urine through gauze
-monitor VS for infection
-instruct patient to report increase pain
-instruct patient to report decrease urine volume
-Diet: Tailor diet
-NSAIDs
- IVF
-lithotripsy
