Chapter 8

You slowly open yours eyes. Everything was dark. You tried to move but you were tied up. There was nobody around, at least not that you know of. "Hey, I see your awake. It's about time." The person appeared before you. The first thing you noticed was his bizarre hat. (Yes it's him 😎) You tried to move again. He only laughed. "So pathetic. You really expect to be able to move after, what, two seconds of trying? Are you stupid?" You tried to say something but your mouth was covered in tape. "Nobody is gonna help you. You're not worth helping. Unless of course...you become one of us." You give him a cold glare in response. "That's what I thought. Guess I'll have to force it out of you." He grabs you roughly by the throat and rips the tape off. "Speak."

"If Childe sent you here, tell him to kiss my ass." He starts laughing. He was absolutely psychotic.

"As if I'd listen to him. I'm here on behalf of the Tsaritsa. She would like to add another member to our team."

"I'd never join. You can just kill me." you retort. He sure as hell didn't like that. He replies by slapping you across the face.

"You bitch. You dare talk back to me, Balladeer!? I'll make sure you can never talk again!" he was about to hit you again when you both heard a thud.

"Fuckin asshole. Why'd you push me like that?" a certain Oni man says.

"This is a life or death situation so shut your trap."
Ayato replied.

"Oh. It appears they actually did come to save you. I was sure they wouldn't." Scaramouche says. You saw Thoma appear with a familiar face behind him. His blonde hair made it easy to remember.

"Aether!??" you shout.

"Not you again." Scaramouche growled. Aether and Thoma instantly went to your side while Ayato and Itto prepared to fight. They snuck you out while the other two fought Scaramouche.

"Are you okay, Y/n?? We were worried sick! After you left Ayato said the Fatui had walked by and we didn't want you getting all caught up in them." Thoma said.

"I'm fine...also hi Aether. We haven't spoke in a while."

"Hi! Thoma alerted me so I had to help." Aether replied. Thoma whispered something to Aether. Aether let go of you and Thoma picked you up, bridal style. You were confused, but the heat from his body had you falling apart. It didn't take long before you fell asleep in his arms.

~Thoma's POV~

She looked so angelic. I wish I could hug her forever but I got to get her back safe. "Aether, go help the other two. We'll be fine." Aether nods in response and runs off. His top priority is getting her back safely. As soon as he got to the Kamisato Estate, people began whispering to each other. "Why is he carrying a girl?" "Did he kidnap her?" "Was she hurt?" All sorts of questions pondered everyone. He got you inside and to your room. He lays you down on your bed, hoping you wake up soon. Luckily, you weren't injured. Perhaps you were just tired.

"Is she alright? I heard what happened." Ayaka walks in.

"Milady, she is fine. She wasn't hurt, but a member of the Fatui Harbingers had kidnapped her. We are lucky to have Ayato otherwise we wouldn't have known!" he explains.

"Yes. I will brew her some tea for when she wakes up." she says and walks out.

~Your POV~

Thoma had stayed with you until you woke up. You looked around, rubbing your eyes. "Y/n! You're awake! Are you okay? Are you feeling well?"

"Yeah. I feel better. Where are the others?"

"They should be back shortly. Once that harbinger is taken care of, they will come back." he answers.

"Okay.." you say. You felt terrible. Earlier, you had lashed out at, not only him, but Ayato and Itto too. "Hey, um..." His eyebrows perk up. "I'm really sorry for lashing out at you earlier. I just got so upset and I didn't know what to do..I just don't understand why you all like me so much." His hand cups your cheek.

Your eyes met his, "What don't you see that we see in you?" he asks. You stay quiet. You never really thought about it until now. "You're amazing, and so talented. The first time we met I thought I had crossed paths with an actual goddess." Your face flushed in embarrassment.

"Hmph. Whatever. I'm gonna go back to sleep. I have a headache." you say. He nods and pulls away from you. He stood up and walked out of the room to give you your privacy. You sighed in relief. Finally some peace and quiet...and with that, you fell asleep peacefully.
