Blake's P.O.V.
I watched her glance at her arm where my hand was and then back at me a few times. She looked scared, she looked like she was physically and emotionally in pain.
I felt something warm and moist under the hand I had around her wrist. I moved my hand from her wrist to her hand. When doing so I saw my hand was stained with crimson. Seeing this I pushed up her sleeve. She tried to jerk away but I continued to hold her hand. My eyes widened just a bit with surprise.
I ran the tip of my fingers over the old, fresh, and very new scars on her pale skin. Two newer ones were bleeding.
I looked her in the eyes, and she said, "please don't tell anyone." With that she began to cry. Making black makeup run down her pretty little face. I pulled her skinny petite body into a hug.
Lucky us we were in the science class where their is a wash area. I pull away from her, and gently led her to the sink where I washed all the blood from her arm and my hand.
Jay was still crying so I pull her into another hug. "Shhh, I won't tell. I promise," I hushed. "It's okay."
I pulled away after holding her for a few more seconds. I rolled up my sleeve to show her the secrets I've kept to myself for years. Jay's tears stop, as she stares at my scars and burns. "See, I have my secrets too," I tell her, then I roll my sleeve back down. "I've only known you a few hours and you already know one of my biggest secrets," I say adding a small chuckle after.
Jay smiles at me adding a small giggle, and looking down. "Yeah.... same," she says with a small grin still plastered on her face. I take a step closer and wipe the black marks off her pale face.
"Come on let's go to lunch." I say walking toward the door with her fingertips between mine. When we get to the door I let go and hold the door open for her.
We decided to sit outside at the picnic tables. I dig around my bag and pull out the brown paper bag I filled with a sandwich and apple this morning. I look up and see Jay has no food in front of her.
I put down the ham sandwich I had in my hand and look at her. "What?!" she says a bit annoyed by my starring.
"No food?"
"Yeah so, I'm not hungry."
I gave her a 'yeah right-I'll-believe-that-in-a-million-years' look.
"I'm not!"
'Grrrr' her stomach growls making her cover her stomach with her arms. "Something's telling me your lying," and that something is her stomach.
"Ugh, fine I forgot my lunch at home," she admits. Though I still don't believe her.
"You could have just said that to begin with," I say bluntly, "I would have given you some of mine."
"No, it's fine really," she refuses my offer.
"Really here eat this," I tear my sandwich in half, and hold it out to her. "I'm not taking no for an answer."
"Ugh" she grunts, takes the sandwich, and starts to eat it.
I smile at her and say, "a simple thank you would be nice."
"Ok fine, thank you," she smiles back.
I chuckle at her fake annoyance, "sure thang."
We sit and eat our halves of the sandwich, when some girl I vaguely remember seeing in the hall, walks up behind Jay.
"I see you didn't take my note seriously." she said staring Jay down. Feeling the heat of the girls stare, Jay puts down the sandwich. "Or did you listen to part of it?" she said with a suspicious and mischievous tone in her voice.
Jay squirmed in her seat at the girls words. I could see how uncomfortable she was. "Kate," Jay whispered notifying she knew who was behind her.
The girl known as Kate chuckled lightly then quickly grabbed her shoulder and spun her around, and hit her across the cheek, throwing her to the ground. I stood up and yelled, "HEY!" an angry tone of voice coming from me. I hate that Jay had to see that part of me, but I couldn't watch her be treated like that.
"Oh who is this here?" she said leaning over Jay, "is he your emo friend that cleans up your blood?" she laughs again menacingly. She gets up and walks off, I'm sure she was proud of her actions. Disgusting.
I reach my hand down to Jay to help her up. "Are you ok?" She gets up nodding as a response. "Ok."
"Sorry 'bout that."
"Why it's not like you can control what other people do."
"Still, I'm sorry you had to see that."
"Eh, it's cool. So who is that, and what note was she talking about?" I say being sure she knows I'm serious.
"Kate Jones, a witch if you ask me."
"The note?" I say repeating myself.
"It doesn't matter," she says in a dismissive tone.
"It does matter. So tell me, what note!?" I pushed the question wanting answers. I don't know why but I wanted to protect her so badly at that moment.
She stands up, grabbing her bag, "I told you it doesn't matter...god I knew it was a bad idea to get close to you," she whispered the last part. "Please stay away from me I'll just end up hurting you. Goodbye Blake thanks a lot," she said and walked off.
"Wait please, don't go I'm sorry," I called and chased after her. I lightly took hold of her hand. "Please I'm sorry."
"Goodbye," with that she ripped her hand from my grip and walked away. I shouldn't have said anything. It was obvious she didn't want to talk about it and I was being pushy.
